Played today @ 9am. Good news is all the snowbirds who gridlock this course in the fall/winter are gone. Course was wide open today, playing quickly as a single I still didn;t catch any other group until the 10th hole.

Tee boxes are in superior shape: flat, green and lush. Fairways are mixed green and brown, still few bad lies to be found. Rough is either dirt or patchy, still playable. Greens are receptive and fast when faced with a downhill putt, but will slow on a steeper uphill putt. Key as always, is accuracy to the pins, lest your ball slide off the wrong side of these steep-sloped greens.

Played Friday 10/31. Course is off cart path after fall overseed. Tee boxes and fairways in good shape. Greens are still furry and very, very slow. Only thing slower than the greens are the snow birds back from Canada, playing a flat 4,000 yard executive course with no bunkers and almost no water hazards in four hours. Play after the Men's Club tees off at your own peril.

Played a quick round Friday 9/20/14. Course is being prepped for overseeding starting Monday 9/22. Fairways in the process of getting cut very short and punched. Rough was left alone, greens still in decent shape. Key to playing this course is not to try and knock the balls to the hole, but to club down 1 iron and run the ball to the hole. With no bunkers, that's the smart play that keeps your ball snuggled near the hole, especially on the front hole locations. Last time I was here a regular did that all day long, and I copied it this round. Works like a champ. Come back in a few weeks after overseed is complete and work on your short game.

The ironically named Desert Sands: there's neither desert nor sand to be found here. A pleasant little executive course located off the 202 & Baseline, this course is flat, without sand traps and, except for 3 consecutive holes on the front side, without water as well. The only defense this course has are some severely angled greens; miss the landing area or hit the wrong side and your ball will slide off. For me, a perfect place to practice my 8-iron, as so many of the Par 3s are in the 135-150 range. Remarkably, both the fairways and the greens are in excellent condition, and the rough can be up to 5" long in places. Really, for $12, can you expect much more?
