I like this course a lot. I play it pretty regularly and it never fails to impress me. Even though there are a lot of dogleg left holes, which don't set up well for my "power fade" . . this is a very manageable course. I love elevation changes, and this course has a lot. The wind makes a big difference here. If you play in the afternoons, the wind is almost always blowing, and that can make short 185 yard par 3's play like 215 yard holes. If you haven't played this course, give it a shot! It's a lot of fun. Play the appropriate tees for your skill level and you'll enjoy the round. The practice range and putting green are first rate, and the service is always superb.

Played this course with wife and mother in law this weekend (1/5/2008) for the first time in a while. The course is in great shape. A variety of tee box options give golfers a great chance to lengthen/shorten the course. The women's tee boxes are very friendly to short hitters so they are a big positive in my wife and mother in law's opinions. The greens were in much better shape than when I played last. Of course, the last time I played, they had just reopened after reseeding, so "furry" conditions were to be expected. The back nine is a far more interesting 9 than the front. There are lots of elevation changes and doglegs on the back which make shot selection and placement much more important than on the front 9 . . Front 9 is pretty wide open and there for the scoring. When we played Saturday the wind came up pretty good just as we made the turn . . with the elevated tee boxes and elevated greens, this made the back 9 pretty tricky. There are some great golf holes on this course. #9 is a lot of fun, but the best two holes are #17 and #18 in my opinion. #17 is a pretty long par 5 from a very elevated tee into a valley and then back up to an elevated and bunker-protected green. This green is severely tiered, so you definately want to be on the correct level. #18 has bunkers on the right to catch your too-long tee shot, then water between the bunkers and green just in case you're thinking about making up for your mistake by going for the green out of the bunker. This hole is a beautiful golf hole . . and one that make or break your round! One other "customer service" note . . my wife lost her putter cover on the course. That afternoon the clubhouse called to let her know it had been turned in . . then they called again the next morning to verify she had received the message. I find this type of customer service very gratifying and certainly is one of the reasons that del Lago is one of my favorite courses in Tucson!
