After finishing up my Imperial County courses so early, I still had plenty of time and energy for golf, especially knowing that any place open wouldn't be very busy on Thanksgiving afternoon. I went on GolfNow and this was the most appealing Yuma course with times available. I booked a 2:15 for $25. What I forgot about was the time zone difference right now in AZ, so when I got there and looked at my phone (reading 2:45) I panicked a bit. However, the place was pretty dead and the guy inside didn't seem to care. I played through a couple groups on the front and otherwise sprinted through the course at lightning speed (about 1.5 hours). This course was also not in very good shape. The fairways looked pretty good from afar and it seems they recently did the overseed. The grass is green, but very shaggy and deep in some places, so no roll-out and sometimes the ball would even sit down like in thick rough. The rough is shaved-down dormant bermuda, so I found it easier to hit from than some fairway lies. The greens also appear to be coming out of maintenance because they are very, very shaggy. Not as slow as they looked, but very bumpy and pointless to try and seriously read any consistent breaks or speed. I was in a couple bunkers. One was OK and the other was just hard packed, terrible sand. I had no knowledge of the course but was intrigued in the GolfNow description saying this was an Arnold Palmer course. The layout is solid as it goes through a residential community and the holes are mostly interesting. Kind of a Palm Springs style course, reminiscent of Shadow Hills South or Mountain Vista. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it much more if in better shape, but it served its purpose as a quick round at a cheap rate. I'm not really sure when peak golf season is in Yuma, but whatever it is I'd wait until then. Right now, it's kind of a disappointment.

Stopped here on a trip from Phoenix to San Diego and decided to play. Don't be fooled by the scorecard. Even though it is a short course it has a great lay out. I took my driver out twice and I could have left it in the car. This is a shot makers course. There are a lot of situations where hitting it the farthest is the dumbest thing you can do. Lots of water, not always in play, but always in your vision to get in your head. Course goes through a housing development so that can play with your head to if you don't want to hear windows breaking. You can stop the ball on the greens even tough it is a desert course. Winds were calm when I played, don't know if I would want to be there when it does, pretty tight fairways.

Great course to play and challenging with a few narrow fairways. Summer play is cheap at $20 all you can play with cart as long as you get there before the afternoon. No snowbirds slowing down play during the summer and the course traffic is moderately paced. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Club house has adult beverages (also regular beverages), a grill that can cook up some tasty chow and a big screen TV to enjoy watching the latest golf tournament on.

Course continues in very good shape and staff is friendly. Wind changes is making this course to play different from weekend to weekend. A true bargain at $25 including cart.
