Second round yesterday was at Corral de Tierra CC, which is located just off Highway 68 between Salinas and Monterey. Definitely another hidden gem that deserves much more attention than it probably gets. They had us booked for a 3:00 tee time, but we ended up going off closer to 2:40 after a steady string of member groups. It was pretty busy out there, but nobody was messing around. Everyone played super quickly and the total pace was only about 3 hours. Now, that's my type of club!

Course conditions were near-immaculate. All 9s and 10s in my ratings and I can't express just how nice this course looks and plays. Tee boxes, fairways and rough all lush and deep green, perfectly manicured. Sand traps excellent. Greens firm and quick, rolling smooth and true. After a number of post-aeration rounds this this trip, these greens were a dream to putt on and it showed in my stats.

The course is situated in a scenic valley and has beautiful surroundings. The course itself is a pretty traditional style design that reminded me of some of LAs older clubs in places (Oakmont comes to mind). The only significant elevation changes come with the elevated 1st and 10th tees up by the clubhouse. There are a few minor elevation changes on the back nine, as well, but most of the course is relatively flat with lots of contour created by the well-placed bunkering. Really friendly club with nice amenities. Another great experience on all levels and highly recommended.
