Mather is looking pretty good these days, now that the sprinkler work is done. The greens show some signs of the freezing weather we've had recently, but it's mostly discoloration, they still roll pretty true and they are fast. Some brown areas in the fairways due to the time of year and the grass used, but it's only in spots and not the whole fairway. The sand is better quality than it used to be...a definite plus. Courteous staff and it will be a major improvement when they get their new carts. We could really use some rain up this way!

Played on a Saturday afternoon, got 18 in in exactly 4 hours in a foursome. Highly unusual for Mather, usually 5 hours even early is normal. Note that on Friday, May 20, 2006 they had a fire which destroyed the Kitchen/Dining area.

Mather has come back nicely from all the rain we've had in N. Cal. They've finally been able to get out and cut most of the fairways and rough although a few spots are still soggy and the rough is pretty high in areas, but it's an improvement. The greens are holding fairly well but one or two of them haven't taken to the punching very well as there are some gaps in the carpet in places. But hey...the sun was out today so it was a great day to play golf!

Soggy, soggy, soggy...but after the major rain we had earlier this week, not surprising. Greens are in very good shape for this time of year/eather. In spots, tee boxes and some fairway areas are thin. Not crowded so pace of play was totally up to you and your group. For the next few days, watch out for standing water and plugged shots.

Many spots on tees that need some fill in work. Just about all the greens are getting infested with some type of weed/grass, primarily around the edges, but also within the green proper. What's not infested is a pretty true putt, but going over the weed is something else, even tho it's mowed to the same height.
