Things are definitely looking up at Spring Valley. An overall very good golf experience and one of the best public courses in the valley. Remodeled upgraded range (still mats only), much appreciated tree trimming, eradication and general rough and waste area clean-up is a very good look for this already beautiful course in the east foothills or San Jose/Milpitas. This course looks and plays great. Greens were the smoothest and cleanest (ball mark-wise) I've ever seen here. Even got to play the downhill alternate par 3 second hole this day. The course is short on length and the fairways run like a police dog, but the greens are almost all complex to read, demanding full attention to where you want to land your approach shot. The green speed is in the not-terribly-fast area but roll true and the elevation and undulation make it challenging to most and exasperating to some. Full green light go play this course! One nag - the brakes on the carts are trash, so slow down way before you plan to stop or you'll put your foot through the floorboard.
