Why use a rubber tee when you can use your own!
Friday September 9, 2011
I am a club tester for a manufacturer in the So. California area. A majority of the time, we are hitting off synthetic mats and the trackman launch monitor to gauge a better reading of how shots were hit.
When it's time to compare Drivers/Woods against a protoype or another manufacturers equipment, a rubber tee is provided, usually the tee height ranges from 2 1/4" to a maximum height of say 2 3/4" at best maybe 3" inches. Actually, when the rubber tee is inserted in the mat, you are already decreasing the height by as much as 1". Therefore, the available height above the mat visually appears to be just about 2" - 2 1/2" inches. I'm always having trouble with the lower tee height and I have to adjust my swing to produce the correct trajectory. However, for my game, I PREFER to tee it up much higher during my rounds from 3 1/4" - 4" inches in height depending if it's into the wind or downwind. When I need to hit a fade, I tee it lower vs higher when I prefer to draw the ball. I believe I have found the perfect solution where this G-Tee allows me to use my Zero Friction tees or actual wooden tees for that matter when I am ONLY using the synthetic practice mats to hit shots with my driver or 3 wood. When I used this item for the 1st time, I broke my tee in half. Then I realized I had positioned the G-TEE in the wrong direction....You need to face the open "slit" side towards the direction the golf ball will travel. There is a very light "arrow" on the G-Tee to indicate the direction it needs to face when placing in the mat. After I did this, no more broken tees. In fact, sometimes the tee will leave the G-Tee "holder" just like it's a normal tee shot. The beauty of this is I can NOW select the proper height that I LIKE while hitting my 460CC Driver or my smaller headed 3 wood. This will be an improvement when I use the Driver on the mats. Based on today's club test of hitting close to 75 golf balls, it seems to be very durable. I purchased the TWO pack set. The only golf retailer I've seen who has this item is Roger Dunn (WorldWideGolfShops). Individually available for $2.99. | ||||
