A Bad Investment
Sunday April 24, 2011
I bought an "OnPar" in March 2010 and used it until Nov. 2010 (about 30 Rounds). It worked find and I was pleased, althought the advanced features were kind of complicated to work with. I stored the unit in it's orginal box until the first nice day in 2011. In March 2011 I charged the unit up and off to the course Iwent. Played the first hole and the unit froze up. Call Savant ( the MFG of OnPar) and was told to send the unit back for a software update, which took about 2 weeks. I got the unit back, went toreloadthe course data and the unit froze again while unpacking the course info. I again contacted Savant and was directed to return the unit. Another 2 weeks went by and I received an e-mail than the unit had been fixed and they had downloaded all my course list to the unit. The very next day I got a call from Savant's Customer Service Dept and was told that the touch screen was broken and the unit was not repairable and out of the Warranty period (6 months). They Offered me a "Like New" Unit for $220 or a Refurbished unit (no Warranty) for $75.00. I paid over $300 for this unit new and got 30 rounds of use from it. You do the math and be the judge. It was a bad investment for me.
