A lot of times, i can just put it in my pocket and play the round since it's pretty thin and small compared to some of the other units. my only concern with this unit is its battery life. the battery bar is near the bottom at the end of the round. it's ok right now but i'm concerned as these battery life gets worse and worse. I've talked to few people who had even worse battery life experience with SG3 or SG4. » Close

I've had the 2.5 for nearly a year now. Now I'm spoiled and will never play without it. Technically, this is a great unit. It is very accurate giving front, middle & back of the green from any direction. It is particularly helpful in giving carry and layup distances and where the end of the fairway is on dog holes. It is simple to use and allows me to make a quick club selection. It truly does speed up play...and comes in very handy on those pesky par 3's. It's about the size of a cell phone and does not get in the way when clipped to your belt. Be aware that sometimes when getting into a cart, it may pop off the belt holder. Due to its size, the screen is fairly small...though I can still read it without my reading glasses. Substantially less expensive than its larger cousins, but with nearly all the same features. There are annual dues to pay, but amortized over the rounds you play in a year make it worthwhile. Since the unit will hold only 10 courses at a time, be sure the course you're heading to is on it! The only real annoyance is when every guy in the fousome constantly asks how far out they are! ... really not that bad at all! » Close

Santa brought us a new Skycaddie 2.5 to supplement our old faithful Skycaddie 2.0. The size, while a little taller, is much more manageable since the casing is thinner and it will fit in places that were awkward with the former model.
Using it for the first time today, I was surprised to find satellite acquisition times improved in the 2.5
The skycaddie has been a huge help in figuring distances and improving our games. The 2.5 has some extra features that make it easier to use than the older model.
While there are more expensive ones in the line, the 2.5 has the information and targets, and lacks the sometimes difficult to see color screen. Rechargeable from it's AC adapter or your laptop with a USB port, the lithium-ion battery is good for a leisurely 36 holes or more. A car charger is available from the company but the often-used Mini 5 pin USB charging cable is the same as the Motorola Razr phone and most digital cameras so there are lots of options for charging on the road.
These are wonderful short game tools and a great way to improve your course management. You won't be disappointed in the 2.5. » Close

Excellent GPS System- I have an added confidence to my game now by knowing I always have the correct club. No more guessing distances when in the rough or inside of 100 yards. I used the shot distance feature to find out how far I truly hit each club. This info has helped my game by adding confidence to each stroke and giving me a plan on each hole by knowing distances to hazards and lay-up zones. » Close
