I've had my Sonocaddie for some three years now. At first I thought this was a great unit because of the features but after using it I think that the accuracy is somewhat undesirable. The yardages can be off by 20 yards at time. I have the nikon laser range finder and it is far more accurate than this gps unit. The features are pretty good. It can hold up to 20 golf courses but you have to sign up for a one time fee and it is not transferable to a new owner if you decide to buy it or sell it. I found out that this company is based out of China so tech support and request for updates on golf courses takes time and in some cases impossible. Alondra park updated their course a few years back and made some hole changes and I contacted them to update the course. I received a reply via email stating they cannot update at this time. So one of the unique features of this unit is that you can update the yardages to hazards, trees, front, middle, and back by mapping the course yourself. The only downside is that the hold layout on the unit will not look like the actual hold. Another feature that is pretty neat is the score tracker. You can keep score on this unit and you can track greens in regulation, FIR, puts, penalties and then upload them onto the computer. It will also calculate the percentages of those stats. It also has a mark feature so you can measure distances of all your clubs. Battery life is pretty good. I played about 10 rounds of golf without charging it for about three weeks. I love the features and for the price it is a decent unit. It is also water resistant and pretty durable. Comes with a belt clip so clipping it to your belt or bag is not an issue. Also, you have to download all the courses you play. Most other units on the market now have 25,000-30,000 course preloaded but not this one. This feature can be annoying at times if you forget to download a course. If you want accuracy then this is not for you but it you are a mid to high handicapper that just want the general distances to speed up play then this is a good unit for you. » Close

I have had mine for a couple of years now. The problem I have it that it is not always accurate. It can be 10-20 yards off sometimes and that it can vary from one hole to be next. Sometimes I had to wait 10-15 seconds for it to adjust to the new location. Also, for many courses, not many yardages for many hazards, bunkers, trees, etc are even given. I get nothing like the display shown in the ads. Sometimes I have to use a laser range finder to give me such yardages. One thing I do like is that it never conks out. I used to have a Sky Caddie and sometimes it would not pickup any signal and I would have to keep resetting it. Not a problem with this unit. Bought because of the ratings. Not sure I would buy from the maker this again. » Close

After a year you would expect improvements to the software but none have been done, also expected them to make revisions to courses by adding missing hazards, or correct errors on existing layouts, but nothing. I would like to see a way to analyze not only one round of stats but be able to analyze all of your score cards at once I even wrote them about it with no response. The system works great but do not expect greater from the same unit. » Close

The only drawback I have is it doesn't analyze the back nine only rounds. Easy to use and accurate within 3 yd. I have compared against sky caddies and it is equal or better. This really has improved my game because I'm not second guessing the club selection. You have to have one if you are tired of hunting sprinkler heads! » Close

I can't add much more than the description. This GPS works as advertised you won't be disappointed. The best part is the lifetime subscription! The weirdest feature is that it will record your position on each hole at regular intervals like 10 seconds (adjustable). When you get back to the PC you can see where you drove the cart (or walked) down the fairway, on the green, etc. It's pretty amusing to see how much you walk all over the green. Anyway, I gave it a 5 for price/value but face it, these things are not cheap. I got mine on Amazon for $280, but when you compare it to other GPS systems this is the best buy since you won't have to pay a fee every year and you get a great GPS. » Close

My wife got me a B/W GolfBuddy for Christmas but after some research, we decided to go for the full color Sonnocaddie. I've used it twice on familiar courses. The yardage is accurate but some of the known hazards were not illustrated. The beauty of this is that I can edit the existing hazards on the course. Probably the same for all GPS systems. The screen is easy to see. I only wish it would track the yardage of each drive and the distance of my first putts. Maybe future software upgrades. The only negative is no AA battery compatibility. I'll see how it helps the next year. I sure can use all the help I can get. » Close
