I love Brookside #1- usually a great course and a great challenge. It was beautiful today...but the course was in pretty shape. The tee boxes were muddy, severly damaged by divots, and often severly slanted. Some greens were lightening quick and others were slow. My favorite moment was watching two marshalls talk under a tree while the group in front of us was an entire hole behind. Maybe next time it'll be better.

Even though Brookside is almost in my back yard, I seldom play either of its two courses. On Tuesday I was the guest of a good friend, and we got out promptly at 10:00. I have always thought that course #1 is very challenging (a 466 yd. par 4?). However, the greens have to be as bad as I can recall. I guess that I should be thrilled with the lack of ball marks (for once), but there are so many varieties of grass on each green that is hard to tell what direction your putt will take. The greens need some serious work if this is to become a quality course. Other courses in the local area do not have the same problem (at least to that extent). The pace of play was great, finished in 4 hours, which is ahead of schedule for that course.

Got 18 in before the rain yesterday. My last posting of course 1 was not encouraging. However to my surprise course 1 was playing pretty good. The greens were a little bumpy but much much better than 3 weeks ago. Fairways and tee boxes were average to good. I play here a lot and yesterday was a pleasant surprise. Hope the rains did not over flood the course.

Course is chewed up from UCLA football parking, broken beer bottles and beer caps. Greens were aweful even though they were aerated a week ago. People just don't like fixing their ball marks!!

Great looking course, with some good forgiveness. PLayed at 2:30 on Friday and was at my car at 7:20. Not a difficult course, and easy to walk.

This is a good course to play, especially if you want to get some practice play in. Course is not in that great of condition, but probably one of the best American Golf Courses in the area. A note to "Cheeseburger". I recommend going at twilight or super twilight, especially if you dont like slow play, because you can skip around to different holes after super twilight. Well happy golfing!

Played on the afternoon of July 15. 325pm tee time, and finished just before 8pm, and we were a fivesome. Not too bad considering the previous comments. Agree that the greens are in pretty bad shape with lots of spots of poa all around (at least that's what my friend was calling it). Many of the tee boxes were not level. Fairways were decent, but nothing to write home about. There was enough sand in the traps I visited to fill all the traps and waste areas at Rustic Canyon. And the number one rant&rave, unrepaired ball marks. Correct me if I'm wrong, but even a badly repaired ball mark is better than an unrepaired one. I just wish I had the answer to solve this problem.
