I spoke with a guy working at Lakewood to get the poop on the No. 3 green cuz they've always had problems with bare spots and getting new grass to take root. They've re-sodded it at least 3 times that I'm aware of and are continually going back and forth using a temporary green right next to the problem child.
Only thing I suggest is DONT BE SHORT on when hitting to this green, temp or original. The area in front has no grass to hold your shot and will roll down into the hazzard.
Just hope when you play you get lucky and have the original green open, it's hit or miss ... until they can get some grass to take root, it'll be that way.
Don't know why they don't remove some of those big pine trees to get more sun on it but that's my laymans opinion.
