Played Thursday 4/10, our twosome joining a visiting single player. Fairly slow POP (4:20), probably to be expected considering a start near 8:00 am. Efficient service including a starter on the tee making sure the groups were on the tee when required. The greens were still showing some signs of aeration. The first two showed very little getting our hopes up but there were many greens where the holes were evident. That said, I was pleased with how they rolled. Medium speed or faster and no major bumps or turns. As the ball slowed it tended to wander but nothing out of the ordinary. They were also pretty firm considering the major holes. They were very playable. Fairway and rough were pretty good. The only complaint was the bunkers. I was in two with little sand (left on #1 and left on #10). I could not get the club under the ball on either. I recommend the course right now. It will get better when the greens are fully healed but it is good as is.

Our experience today at Lakewood 3/18 was about as expected for a course that was doing a major punch and sanding of the greens. Communication was great. We were aware last week when we booked so we took it in stride. We received a small bucket and a free beverage as compensation for dealing with the maintenance. That said, there were large punch holes and they were heavily sanded. Was it awesome? No. Was it communicated? Yes. Will it make the course much more enjoyable for the summer? Heck yeah. Can't wait to come back once the greens have healed.

The fairways are in good shape and no bare sports (some ate the front), the greens are in good shape. The greens are what makes this place hard, pretty fast. There is a yardage dfference when playing blues.

So well pissed off today to find out Lakewood CC had aerated the greens. Nothing on their website Nothing about it when I checked in and paid full price for my round today. When I asked the starter about it he says"I dunno". So sick of this crap. I avoid aerated courses like the plague as my favorite part of the game is chipping and putting, so when you've hit a green in reg and you dont know whether the ball is going to skeech to a halt or hydroplane on the sand it s pretty infuriating. Come on Lakewood, cut this s@*t out

Walked on at 7am Wednesday teeing off at 7:30 finishing in 4:30 hours. Play was a little slow do to cart path only and the group in front of mine being a hole behind. I didn't lower my rating due to wet from the previous few days of rain. I based it primarily on level of coverage and maintenance. The greens were in good condition rolling with medium+ speed, smooth, and held shots. The fairways mostly had very good winter coverage with a few areas of thin. The rough had decent coverage with some thin/bare spots. The bunkers had good sand but the bottom of the bunkers were still slushy wet. Other than some wet in the low area of the bunkers they appeared well maintained. The tee boxes had decent coverage and were reasonably level. Overall the course seemed to handle all the rain decently. Most areas were decent to hit from with some low a spots being a bit mucky.

Overall Lakewood has an enjoyable layout with good variety. Short and long par 4s, varied lengths for the par 3s, some doglegs, and water coming into play on several holes. The newish driving range is nice along with practice putting greens and a chipping green with bunker. The staff was friendly and the starter in the pro shop was calling groups to the 1st tee.

Quick review on Lakewood this past weekend ... caught a 9:20am tee time late online the day before and played from the blue tees walking with a buddy. Pretty outstanding day out there in terms of weather and the POP moved pretty good throughout the day but did have a few waits here and there.

Course conditions are quite good but there was just an explosion of bird poop on a lot of the greens and surrounding the green complexes. But if your line was clear, putts were moving nicely at medium-fast speeds and holding greens well. Fairways and rough in mostly good shape with a few thin spots here and there. Bunkers were not great - a lot with standing water in them and mostly just clumpy and not soft - far from ideal. Tee boxes were good.

Fun course and a good challenge, especially with the blue tees as far back as they were this past weekend. Can't recall any cart service throughout the day but there is a nice little snack shop at the turn (and the third hole). A fun facility and a course I always enjoy playing when it's a good POP like this one.

Twilight round at Lakewood and was excited to see how the course was playing after the last positive review. Happy to report that conditions are still quite good across the board and the course is currently showing its best side.

I had a 12:50 tee time (played the blue tees) and got a small bucket of balls to warm up on the small, but well-maintained driving range (I would guess there are only about twenty stalls). The course itself is pretty challenging with surprisingly sloped greens, plenty of water features, decent amount of length and its fair share of bunkers. It's very flat though so easy to walk.

Fairways right now are quite lush and green and found plenty of good lies all day. There were a few too many unrepaired divots in popular landing areas, but that's on the patronage more than the course crew. Rough was manageable, bunkers had what looked like hard sand but it actually played pretty nicely, and the tee boxes were mostly level and well-kept.

Greens were in very nice shape, rolling medium-fast and holding their lines nicely. They've come nicely out of the last punch, but still seeing far too many unrepaired ball marks from lazy golfers who don't take the time to fix what they break. It's a bit maddening. Other than that though I found them to be very nice indeed.

POP was pretty good throughout as I was paired with another single and an older couple who were both quite good. We waited on many of the holes but nothing so outrageous as to cause loads of frustration. It was a pretty beautiful day out and not much could spoil it.

In summary, great time to go play Lakewood if you can get a time. It's doing the job.

Played here the last two weekends, early, both times in groups with four walkers. Last weekend was very slow on the back nine and played in 4:15. Today, made the turn in 1:45 but hit a back nine slowdown again. Still got around in 3:50 so no complaints. The snack stand at the turn is still closed which is unfortunate because one does not go by the clubhouse between nines.

There were some signs of the aeration on the greens last week but they were fully healed today. They rolled well last week but they were really nice today. Good speed and few bumps, if any. The course is decently lush. I did not have any bad lies in the fairway and we had to look sometimes for balls because the rough is up in spots. The only condition complaints are with the bunkers. I had nice lies for the three I was in but others in my group were in a couple with little sand.

$48.50 to walk at prime time on a weekend is a good deal these days. Lakewood rarely disappoints and today was no exception. I'll be back.

Played Lakewood the last two Sundays. I received an email recently saying that they were discontinuing 5somes as of August 1 so my visits bookended that change. Teed off about the same time each week, a little before 7:00. It played faster on August 6 4:10 as opposed to 4:15, but not noticeably. We were behind a relatively slow group this week but starting on hole 7 they picked up the pace considerably so we were 10 minutes faster on the back 9.

They are putting good amount of water on the course because of the heat but it is in good shape. Quite lush including the rough. It is very thick in spots. The fairways are great. The greens are pretty good. They are not as fast as I have seen them in the past but they are running true and at least medium or more.

The sand is okay. I was in one bunker on Sunday and it was fine. Not a lot of sand but adequate.

I always enjoy Lakewood and the last two visits were no exception. One note: the snack stand was not open. There was a sign on it of the various food service areas on site and their hours, and it stated that the snack stand was open from 7:00 am each day, but it was closed. Hopefully just a sick day rather than a change in operations.
