Today was my third time in the last two months at this course. The course reminds me of a real nice, country club version of Knollwood which is just a few miles east of here. The fairways are tighter and in much better condition than Knollwood, though. I asked the starter for a tip the first time here and he said everything breaks to the valley and the greens are fast. Couple that with the cold north wind we had today and you could easily putt off the greens. A couple of months ago, the course was much more pristine than what I saw today. The kikuyu fairways were mostly dormant now and good drives would run forever. There was some areas of tight lies, but it was not bad by any means. This is a well-maintained course. Nicely cut fairways and rough. A few areas were marked GUR, but mainly they were not in any fairways. A few holes have water hazards that come into play. Many holes play uphill, but a couple play downhill: most notably hole 6. This hole seems to have an elevation change of 150 feet in under 400 yards. Most of the greens were somewhat elevated and heavily contoured, making it more challenging. We had a special deal here today and it was worth every one of the thirty dollars we paid for the shotgun start. Only problem is the course is basically closed and there are no personnel other than maintenance and the starter.
