This place SUCKS! I've been playing Costa Misery for years, and the place is getting worse every day. The course itself is in pretty good condition, but the "help" is for crap. Showed up as a single at 1:05 on Saturday. The starter said the wait would be 20-30 minutes. I figured this would be a tad longer, as it was Saturday and all. I FINALLY teed off with a mix-and-match 5-some at 2:40. The opening hole is a par 5. There were 3 groups playing the hole and another 2 waiting. By the 7th hole, the group in front of us was an entire hole behind (read: NO ONE on the 8th!) We caught a marshall (or better described as some guy riding around on a red cart with his head up his rear) and asked him to move the group ahead of us to a resonable pace. His reply was to "either go start on 1 again, or skip ahead to 10". What the hell kind of response is this?!
I am SO over Costa Misery...I will NEVER give them my hard-earned dollars again! You should do the same. Go play Meadowlark, where at least they try to keep some sort of pace. Wait, better yet, DON'T play Meadowlark, 'cause that's where I'll be!!

Congratulations to the grounds folks there. They must have put in a remarkable effort in 7 days because the couse is highly playable again.
I still believe it shouldn't have been open a week ago.

This course is a great play, but be prepared to be on this course for 5-6hrs because of the backup all the time. The only 2 things about Costa Mesa Golf Course, is the Starter/Pro shop is rude as heck... Continue »

The only 2 things about Costa Mesa Golf Course, is the Starter/Pro shop is rude as heck and alot of the people who play here are what I called costa mesa slugs and they are rude also. Otherwise the both courses are great and the prices are good

Course was in a sorry state. This was the second longest round I've played in my life and it was Friday with no tournaments. Just under 6 hrs. Why? A 1/3 of the time was going around rain areas. There is so much casual water still on the course that you travel back and forth and around every hole. Yes, the Tees and greens had been cut and were fine considering the weather abuse. This course needs to dry out and carts are making a bad situation worse.

As usual, this course is in great shape and is a great value. Everything is greening up nicely and the greens are almost perfect. For the price, it is a must play. It has a good mix of holes, long and... Continue »

As usual, this course is in great shape and is a great value. Everything is greening up nicely and the greens are almost perfect. For the price, it is a must play. It has a good mix of holes, long and short, and some nice shot making opportunities. Some reachable par 5's make it fun and some long par 3's make it chalenging.

Considering the Greenkeeper.org rating, I was expecting better conditions, but the course was the same as I remembered from years ago: relatively flat, thin grass on tee boxes and some fringe areas. Greens were the best part of the experience - good speed and in good shape. Fivesomes on the weekend make for a long day:)

Enjoyed playing this course. Very slow due to number of players. Course in great condition except the bunkers which really need more sand and more raking. Will I play again? Yes certainly.

Played during the week at noon but one of the longest rounds I have ever suffered through. Never saw a marshall or beverage cart. Greens were like linoleum - not a ballmark to be seen. Looks like the overflow from Mile Square Park has noved on to Costa Mesa.

Course in good shape, greens fees were $39 for a holiday.
