Played Course 3 after a layoff of several weeks recovering from a groin strain – no fun there! Went with a neighbor at 3:16 pm on 6/25/26 on a warm, sunny afternoon with not too much wind. With the beginning of summer the LWV courses are much drier and firmer than usual, with fairways cut tight and rough less long and dense than during the winter, helping with lies and rollout. Greens are fairly firm, releasing well-struck shots slightly and rolling at a medium pace. Tee boxes could use a tighter cut and are a little spongy and uneven. Bunkers are terrible, hard-packed with only a thin dusting of playing layer (if at all). I bounced the club into the ball and chased the resulting rocket on two holes. Pace was OK at just over 2 hours. Looking forward to the planned greenside bunker renovations – they’ve started on Course 1 and will continue for the next few weeks.
