Eaglee and I met up here for an early warm-up before an SCGA member outing at Canyon Crest. I had booked a 6:30 tee time, which was the earliest they let me book, but we showed up earlier and were the first to tee off a little after 6:00. Zipped around at our quick pace, so that was ideal. $20 with a cart for 9 holes, OK I guess. The course was in solid shape I thought. It was very green, which is nice to see, but definitely looked better from a distance than up close in some areas. Fairways a bit shaggy and some patches of this weedy crabgrass I'm not sure what it is, but mostly had good lies. Rough decent enough, not too much of a factor. Greens soft and slow, but surfaces not too bad. Wasn't in a bunker, so no comments there. This a regulation-length 9-holer you can see from the 60 freeway, playing to distances of 3221 yards from the blues and 6028 from the whites, so a solid test, especially when shaggy and wet early in the morning. Pretty wide open and straightforward layout with a few interesting holes. The 2nd stands out a tough par-3 that's 217 from the blue tees and you can almost categorize as a dogleg with a couple big trees short of the green that you have to play around or over depending on your shot shape. OK course and decently maintained for the price, so it was better than I expected it to be, but still nothing too special.
