Avoid if you can!

It was a comedy of errors here. We enquired about playing here the previous
afternoon, as we were staying up the road. It looked awesome from the road
as we came over the hill. The "pro" at the desk said we could get out
tomorrow morning on their "best" of 3 courses, Oak-Glen for $30, one of
the first twilight times at noon. This sounded great.

1) The course was in terrible shape, basically dirt, no grass on many of
the tee boxes. The fairways were thin. Greens were bumpy. It turns out we
did not get the "best" course, which is Willow- Oak. We felt deceived.

2) The front played in about 1:50, very nice pace to about #8. Then we got
behind 3 groups, a fivesome-sixsome- fivesome pack of the local members.
They decided to have some sort of mini-tournament. We waited every shot,
every hole with 2 groups on tee boxes all the way in. We pointed out the
slow play after the round the proshop, to no avail.

3) We really would have liked to have showers in the clubhouse after the
round, as we had a dinner arrangement and we were staying a ways from the
course. We were not allowed to use the locker rooms, they were for members
only.

All-in-all, a Mickey Mouse day on a Mickey Mouse course.

Played 11/7 at 7:30, overall condition is good, tee boxes with some divots and most of them well leveled; fairways have some dry spots but in good condition, green where very fast at this time of the morning.

Played Willow at Sycuan on 09/19/2009. I had played The Oak course before, and enjoyed that course. I had heard the Willow was supposed to be better. However, having played the Willow, I personally do not believe that to be the case. I thought the Oak was in better condition, has some nice elevation changes, and variety of holes. Oak has 1 or 2 quirky holes, but not overly quirky. The Willow however has a VERY quirky front nine. Some horrible holes. Not only that, but both 9 and 18 are par 3's!!!!!! NOTHING more unsatisfying than ending a 9 on a par 3, let alone ending your round on a par 3. Skip Willow and play Oak. I will not be rushing to play it again anytime soon.

Played 7/12 with 0624 tee time, held up one spot but kept the round just over 4 hours. The course is very lush and green though with standing water in a lot of spots on the course. The greens are very receptive and I even got my ball to spin back on several holes. Pace of play was great with no one pressing us and us not having to wait on any shot. Plus, greens fees were $45 for some unknown reason making the day and course very enjoyable. Sycuan has done very well with these courses and I will gladly play regardless of the green fee (but $45 is awesome!). On another note, it gets HOT quickly when the sun tops the mountain, so bring or buy water and sunscreen.

Greens are in a perfect condition. They are fast. Faiways are very well maintained. In general, the course is in a very good shape.

Played 3/27. Course was in great shape! Greens was fastest i played all year so far.
Great Views. Much more fun than Oak Glen (which is also a decent course). More scenic, waters, trees, elevation.

Played 12/19/2008, tee time 11:28, played Red Par Men's Club tourney and, as always with Men's Club tourneys, play was slow, not the courses fault. Rated sand as poor as lots of rain packed it down and the maintenance crew had not dragged since raining. Course very green due to rain with little player damage, though had to repair lots of ball marks on all greens. Teeing off around noon, take extra clothing as the temp will drop 7-10 degrees when sun goes behind mountain. More challenging than Oak Glen due to narrow fairways and long, undulating greens, but still fun to play.
