The weather was warm 90's, but not too hot. There were 7-10 MPH winds at times which definitely affected my drives when hitting in to the wind. For example, on hole #5 which is the #1 handicap hole my drive was only 132 yards!

We have played this course many times, so I decided to play off the Diamonds vs. the Hearts tee boxes. Diamonds are the equivalent to the ladies white tees. I did OK considering the additional yardage.

The course was very green and lush considering that it was late May. Casa Blanca is usually always in great condition all year round. They really keep the course up. The only time there was a problem that I am aware of is when there was a flood a couple years ago which took out hole number 5. Hole number 5 has been repaired.

I like playing this course because it has a fair layout with wide enough fairways and safe places to hit if trouble is in your way.

I think the most difficult hole is #17 par 4 #2 handicap. You can spray your tee shot right off the tee and then it is lost in the bushes and same if you go left. So hit the fairway. Next you need to either layup or make sure you go long enough to get through/over the narrow opening which is about a 100 yards from the green. The narrow opening (bushes left and creek/cart path/bushes right) is about 15-20 yards wide. Being a short hitter I layup to about 125 yards from the green. My playing partners who hit it longer usually go for the green and usually get there in 2 or close to the green for a chip on. Par is a good number on this hole.

I like this course and so I strongly recommend it any time of the year.

Nevada Open was held Dec. 14th - 16th. The conditions were very windy (30+ mph) plus the temps were a little colder for this time of the year. Upper 40's, barely broke 52 degrees then add the strong winds.

The course has RE-Opened hole #5 Par 4 - 466 yards.
Last year at this time, this course was impacted by the "2nd" 500 year flood in a span of 4 years! Since that time, the hole was a temporary PAR 3 until the land & fairway could be rebuilt in time for the Nevada Open!

If you played hole #5 in the past (Double fairway landings with a mound in the middle) you will not recognize the new layout thanks to Mother Nature. VERY TIGHT landing area now, maybe just 20 yards wide, sod has been placed, seams still prevalent, but playable conditions (CART PATH ONLY), the new cart path runs up the RIGHT side of the fairway! On the LEFT side of the fairway are THREE cut outs, a NEW design feature which
makes it a better choice to play a fade off the tee OTHERWISE tee shots will roll into the hazard. New stakes are up to clearly the define the hazard.

Overall the conditions of the fairways (Except Hole #5) are in very good condition, just a high level of divots which were not filled during play of the tournament. One of the players in our group found a minimum of 5+ divots. The rough was good too, a little thick in spots but not totally penalized for missing the fairways.

GREENS: Rolled very true and smooth! Medium/fast was the speed. To the untrained eye, seeing the different colors of grasses on the green, one would think the grass is dying off...It's the summer grass going dormant and does NOT affect play at all. No excuses for 3 putting.

Bunkers: Seemed to be consistent, medium texture, raked properly.

Tee Boxes: Very good conditions, lush enough.
Next to Hole #1 tee box is a Plaque to commerate Jason Zubrack's REMax Long drive of reaching the green!

Course: Most sprinklers are marked, Kirby markers are used 100,150,200,250. I have one of the very few yardage books ever created and have added my personal notes. There are some quirky holes,
EX: Hole #13 310 yards - PAR 4 A Drive-able par 4 but if you decide to layup correctly, you should make Birdie. Going long to the back of the green is very penalizing since your chip/putt is back up the hill on the large green.

BEST PRACTICE FACILITY: I love to spend a few hours practicing my short game pitching from inside 75 yards to 3 flags or practice bunker shots. Doing this has helped me lower my handicap and improve the confidence in my short game! Large putting green too with enough undulations and conditions you'll find out on the course.

Btw, the slope & rating conducted by the USGA is much higher and more accurate than what you will find on the printed scorecards and THIS has nothing to do with the changes to HOLE #5! It has always been rated the 1 HDCP on the entire course, it just got tougher by the floods.

The course was in very good shape with the exception of the 428 yard par 4 #5 being washed out and made into a 126 yard par 3. This might have been OK, but there was no prior warning to our group of 20, plus we were forced to hit off of a mat. (I hate hitting off of a mat!) Other than that, everything else was great.

Played last week. Very windy but the course was in good shape. Fun to play. Can't say anything bad about the course except the wind but that had nothing to do with the course.

Just played on Monday 11/8/10: This course is in excellent condition,the rough is barely 1"-2" if that, but defined enough so you know when you miss the fairway. Normally the greens are a fast pace but currently on the medium to slow side. Only a few holes are cart path only (all par 3's are always cart paths). The layout doesn't look all that tough but it can bite you IF you don't know when to play for position.

Hole#13 is a driveable PAR 4 well protected by bunkers & a tough green to land your approach shots, avoid going long EVEN if the flag is back there...severe drop off from the center of the green.Play smart off the tee & you'll be rewarded.The bunkers are of consistent mixture throughout the course.

DUE TO BUDGET CUTS, the GPS units have been REMOVED from the golf carts within the last year or so,make sure you pack your GPS units, Rangefinder & shotlinks all should work properly. If not, the yardage books are dirt cheap, highly recommend if you have not seen the layout. You will find MOST of the sprinklers are NO LONGER marked! That is because they INSTALLED the GPS units on the carts but failed to RE-MARK the sprinkler heads etc when the GPS units were removed! There are the 200/150/100 yard markers in plain sight.

On the FIRST TEE near the tips is a plaque that designates during the RE/MAX Long Drive competition, Jason Z. drove the Green (at) 412 yards!

The weather did not cooperate, it maybe November but with the wind & light precipitation made it feel colder for early November. In my opinion it is the BEST practice facility in the Mesquite area. Make sure you wear the appropriate clothing EVEN if your just going to practice! NO BLUE JEANS, CUT-OFF JEANS ALLOWED as well as collard shirts...

Even though it's not one of the most beautiful courses in the area, it definitely makes up for it with customer service that is second-to-none. The entire course was very well kept. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were excellent and the bunkers were very fair. The layout reminds you of a Palm Springs type course and is not overly long. Don't be afraid to play the tees that are one notch longer than your usual, because it helps make the course more challenging and fun w/out ruining your score. A perfect warm-up course for the other area courses!

Played in the afternoon on Saturday, 6/28/08, on a hot sunny day with only light winds. Temperature kept people away and this resort-style course was almost deserted. No ranger, no cart girl, and course only comes back to the clubhouse after #18. Fortunately, plenty of water available. Course was in good shape with receptive but slow greens. Many holes are bordered by desert wash vegetation defined by hazard stakes - some areas of thick brush are impenetrable, so staying on the playing areas is essential. Many sand traps are well out of the line of play, and greens are fairly large. Good for a relaxing round if you hit it straight. Recommended.

More of a Palm Springs area type course than the other area canyon courses, but with much thicker brush. The fairways were in excellent shape and the rough remained a short but consistent length. Bunkers are firm-hard (don't use much bounce on your wedge), but still softer than the Oasis, Wolf Creek or Palms courses. The greens were very smooth and medium fast.
This is a very good warm-up course (for the always difficult other area courses) that you can score well on and the customer service is excellent.
