Greens are dying quickly. Looks like there is hardly any grass on them. Very crusty and bumpy. I play here a lot and the weather has been perfect for growing grass so I don't know why these greens are not better. Looks like they may lose them??

Played here while we’re in the area for a family wedding. This is a fun, well-kept course in good condition. There are 3 nines – I played the Pines and Timber Trails nines – Creekside was undergoing some aeration. The overall layout of the course is through a pine forest, with some holes near the clubhouse playing across more open land, where the wind is more of a factor. There are lots of trees but the lies are open underneath, with the rough grass generally cut short and easily playable. A creek winds through the property and must be crossed on several holes on each 9. I played on Monday, 2/29/16, at noon for $36 with cart. I played as a single behind half a dozen twosomes; with no one behind me, I played at my own pace, often hitting two balls, in 3.5 hr. Weather was cloudy, with moderate temperatures and off/on wind; early on there was a 50% chance of rain (and I had sprinkles on one hole), but the round evolved into a clear warm day with fresh breezes. The course features a large grass range and large putting greens that are fairly flat and reflect the slope of greens on the course. The putting green turf was thin and spotty, rolling at medium-fast speed that was similar to the on-course greens. Fairways and rough are dormant with semi-overseeding, resulting in spotty green areas and clumpy turf in rough around the greens, which can greatly affect your lie and chipping approach. Greens were thin and VERY firm; as a result, there were very few marks on greens, and I frequently had trouble finding my own pitch mark. The thinness/patchiness of grass on the greens and blowing pine needles affected the roll of the ball. Many greens are elevated; run-up options are generally available on all holes. The clumpy rough and firm greens generally pointed to chip and run recoveries, with pitching off tight or clumpy turf being more chancy. Despite most holes being lined with trees, the fairways had ample hitting areas. Fairways traps were coase sand that is damp/firm/thin; greenside traps were in similar condition, making control of recoveries difficult. Tees were set up with ample width; some tee areas were not flat, but I had no problem finding good areas to hit. The course offers basic carts (cooler, but no ice or water); there is a GPS system (Shortgrass Technologies) that gave distances to major landmarks and to the COG (not the pin position). Friendly staff and starter; no cart girl today; and the shop has no GHIN reporting system. Cart paths need some TLC; they are cracked and uneven in many spots. Plenty of water available. Recommended.

The course is wonderful. On the Timber 9 there are two par fives that require a long carry off th etee to get to the fairway. Swing Hard ;-) The traps have a very grainy sand, but it is consistent throughout the course. The greens were recovering from aeration, or they would have been fantastic.
