Played Jefferson Park for the first time in some time this past Sunday morning (10/11/15) and found the place to be kind of mediocre. Greens seem to have recovered pretty well from the punch (it had been about a month, according to GK) but they certainly weren't smooth. They were decent enough, I suppose, just quite slow, soft, inconsistent, and a little bumpy. Fairways were a bit sloppy and the rough a bit patchy, nothing tragic but nothing nice either. I found a 3 greenside bunkers, 1 (in front of the 17th hole) was decent, the other 2 were horribly thin. Tee boxes were pretty good. We were playing as a twosome and waited occaisionally, but still got around very quickly, probably in about 3:40.

Being a former member of the men's club here, I've played it a lot over the years, and I keep hoping it'll return to being as nice as it used to be, say maybe 10 or 12 years ago. Sadly, I just don't see it happening. They've built a beautiful new clubhouse and driving range, and while I didn't have time to get something to eat afterward, I've heard the food there is pretty good. I can understand wanting to maximize those revenue streams, but the way that the course seems to be a secondary thing is just a bit depressing. The 11th hole is still using a temporary tee box that they've placed in some trees on the right side of the fairway to try to keep players from slicing balls into the street. Its such a shame, because they really have taken what was probably the best, most challenging hole on the course and wrecked it. As my buddy (another former member) and I walked down the 18th fairway, we were in agreement that we can wait a couple more years before we come back.

Played Jefferson Park yesterday (12/15/14) for the first time in a long time, and found that not a whole lot has changed. Fairways and rough are in pretty bad shape, as they normally are here in the winter, and the greens were incredibly bumpy, not too many putts would hold a line. Tee boxes and traps were decent enough. They seem to be doing some modifications to number 11, and I had heard that it was playing as a par 3, which is a shame because it used to be a very tough, long par 4. Currently they've stretched it back out a little bit, and have a temporary tee with it playing about 350 yards. It looks to me like they've added a few trees on the right side as well, and eventually the hole should be quite nice. While I'm happy to have found that they're restoring that hole, the general condition of the rest of the course left a bit to be desired. I do understand that they're focused on the new clubhouse they're building, and that seems to be coming along nicely. Just the same, I'd rather see a little more energy spent on the course.

Played Jefferson Park this morning (4/23/13) for the first time in a long time and I was pleasantly surprised. The greens rolled pretty nicely, at a medium speed. Only a few bobbles here and there. The fairways, while better than last year, are still not the greatest. Rough and tee boxes were pretty good, and I managed to avoid the bunkers. There was almost no one there, so I walked it in about 3:10 while trying to take my time. A very pleasant way to spend the morning.

Played in my monthly Men's Club event yesterday at Jefferson, and had a rather pleasant morning. The weather forecast was bad enough to keep the casual players away, but the actual weather was really nice, not cold and just about completely dry. As a result, the pace was great, just under four hours teeing off at 8:30. Conditions were pretty good, greens have recovered very well from the punch, and fairways, rough, and tee boxes were good. I was in one bunker, and it had plenty of sand, although one of my playing partners found a different one that he said was quite thin. As has been my experience, they can be a little hit and miss. Overall a solid round.

Played in a Men's Club event at Jefferson this morning, and had a pretty enjoyable round. Most everything is very firm and fast, as it's been quite awhile since we've had any rain up here. The greens didn't roll exactly true, but they were consistent enough, while not being too slow or too fast. The fairways, rough, and tee boxes seemed a bit burnt out to me, with some pretty dry patches but nothing out of line considering the recent weather. Pace was good enough at about 4:15, although I prefer to play a little bit quicker. It was quite annoying to have a 7:30 tee time, but still wind up not hitting the first ball until about 7:50. Overall though, a solid enough round.

Played on Sunday, June 17 2012 (Fathers Day) at Jefferson. The course conditions have improved quite a bit since the winter, its pretty dry and everything runs out nicely, on the greens, in the fairways, really everywhere. Greens putted decently, and lies everywhere on the course are decent enough. Traps were a little bit inconsistent, one that I was in was a little thin like I expected, and a couple of others were incredibly soft. They are supposed to be hazards, so I really should just hit better shots and not go in them. Pace was reasonable, although it was insanely crowded. It was also quite annoying to be stuck behind a group playing from the back tees who had no business playing from there. We counted 7 holes where someone from that group hit a tee shot less than 100 yards. And it wasn't just one of them, it happened to every guy in the group at some point. Still was a decent enough round.

Jefferson was in real nice shape yesterday, Sunday June 5. Teed off around 7:30, and got around in 4:30, which is decent enough. There's a few fairways with unrepaired divots, and unrepaired pitch marks on a few greens, but it is a muni, so you've got to expect it. Greens rolled surprisingly well, a little bit quicker than you might think, and not real bumpy either. The place is certainly worth a visit.
