If someone brought you here blindfolded and took it off at the 1st tee, you would be hard pressed to believe you were in the desert? I concur with GDR23 on all he wrote. i give props out to Nicksquire who was unable to join us, as to why this is his favorite course in P S. While you read the reviews on this course and peruse the pics, it can only be really (IMO) appreciated by playing it. And you can even stay overnight on the course (yes really) Luxury Glamping inside Classic Club golf course - Tents for Rent in ...https://www.airbnb.com › United States › California › Palm Desert. Something I have never seen on any golf course. Thank you John and Classic Club for a wonderful afternoon of golf, which I will remember for a lifetime (especially # 18). When you are in P S, please do yourself a favor and play this course. If you don't, it is your loss. And the golf carts were like sitting in your easy chair at home. This is (IMO) one of Arnold Palmer's great golf courses he ever did.

Rode the Blues this afternoon 12/20/2018 at 12:30pm with JohnnyGK, RGM2525 and 24hourgolf. POP was 3 hrs 45 minutes with the golf course to ourselves--never had to wait on one shot. Perfect weather mid 70's with no wind. Super practice facilities, huge Clubhouse that reminded me more of a Hotel and very friendly staff and cart attendants.

This course shoots right up to the top of my list for being well maintained and for the layout. Top 3 for me. When everybody told me that everything is big here they were not lying. Huge greens, water hazards, bunkers, fairways, etc--you get the drift. Some nice challenging holes and some birdie holes for sure that our group had plenty of! Almost had 5 on the day myself.

Fairways were super lush, ball sitting up perfectly. Rated a 9/10.

Tees perfect, level and lush. Rated a 9/10.

Rough super lush and green. Great shape, healthy. Rated 9/10.

Greens were a minor step down from Terra Lago but still in good shape rolling medium speed with some grain to them. Rated 7.5 out of 10.

Was in one greenside bunker and 2 fairway bunkers that were raked and in good shape--maybe could have used some more sand. Rated 7.5/10.

Just love the back nine here.

Highly Recommended--I hope to return again one day. They have something special going on here.

Rode the Blues (6711/72.9/135) in 3H as a single. The weather was clear, breezy and well north of 100. The Bermuda tees were level, lush and very nicely maintained. The Bermuda fairways were lush, mowed close and firm. Excellent to play from even though there are a few brown areas. The Bermuda rough was mostly lush. The ball usually sat up, not that penal even though it is thick. Several traps had sprinkler runoff puddles or large mud areas. The fairway traps were playable, firm is preferable there. However, the green side traps are a completely different story. They were mostly raked but still in poor shape. Trying to hit off thin or hardpan lies to rock hard greens? I putted out of the last 2 green side traps I was in over a lip. That was by FAR my best chance of getting a ball on or near the green out of these things. The Bermuda greens are very grainy, making putts bumpy and very uneven in speed. Hard, not firm, you may make a dent with a high iron approach. Mediocre. Nice GPS on the carts, complementary bottled water provided and range balls on a 1st class grass practice facility are all a ++. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. Tee to green the course is in excellent condition. Everything about this place was top notch, except for the greens and especially the sand traps. I always look forward to using my accumulated Troon Reward points to play here as many times as possible during the off season.

Rode the Blues (6711/72.9/135) in less than 3H as a single using Troon Rewards. The weather was 105, fairly calm and clear. I saw almost no other golfers on the entire course this afternoon. Classic Club is a long, demanding and challenging course. Love this Palmer layout. Many holes have trees &/or a ravine on one side and a large lake down the other side. While most fairways are not tight, most holes also have a half dozen or so large fairway traps to avoid. This is a desert course, but it also has a mountain feel with all the pine trees. A unique feature of this course is that two different par 3's have completely different tee boxes on either side of a canyon so they could radically vary the look and angle of those holes. The Bermuda tees were level, lush and very nicely maintained. The Bermuda fairways were lush, mowed close and firm. A few brownish areas but still excellent overall. The Bermuda rough was lush. Nice to chip from as the ball usually set up. The sand traps were shockingly bad for a course of this caliber. Numerous traps had sprinkler runoff puddles or mud holes. Most of the other ones I was in were thin and crusty. These greens are difficult to putt because of the many undulations producing subtle breaks. The greens are in full transition back to Bermuda. Most of the remaining over seeded areas are brownish (dead?), and there are patches where you are putting on that, which makes for fast putts. The Bermuda is grainy, and there are patches you are putting on that, which makes for slow putts. Overall, they were bumpy, hard and putted medium speed. Overall, very mediocre. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. Complementary water and range balls on a 1st class grass practice facility. Everything about this place was top notch. With the currently mediocre greens, it is not worth the $99 rack, but still recommended if you can get a discount.

Played here for the first time on Sunday 4/22/18 at 7:00 for $149 which i thought was a little too high since most courses are offering deals about this time. Decided to play since i have heard nice things about the course and since the winds were not blowing it was time. I was not disappointed at all in the course and when i found out that our rate included a $15 voucher for food or drink i felt much better. This is a very nice designed course and the conditions were all better than 7 out of 10. I could not find one thing about this golf outing that i disliked. Service-great, food-great, golf-great, weather-great, and i look forward to playing here again.

Played here yesterday (8/31) with fellow Guru's Nick, Keith, and Kevin. Had a wonderful time at this beautiful and unique desert course. Everything about this place screams out class; the attention to detail, the customer service, the conditions....it is in my opinion a must-play! Outside of the heat, this was a perfect outing in every way. On to the review (though the boys pretty much covered everything and them some):

Tee boxes: Excellent shape I felt. There was plenty of green flat area to hit from. No major divot damage on par 3 holes. A good variety of tee options as well.

Fairways: Great shape considering how consistently the temperatures here get over 110 degrees in the summer. Green through and through with a few spots affected by sprinklers or irrigation issues. Didn't offer the greatest roll because of this but didn't have a bad lie all day.

Rough: Great shape as well. Not overly thick but enough to keep you honest. Good to see this area wasn't left to die off in the heat.

Bunkers: Probably the "worst" part of the course and that's saying a lot because it's like complaining about the front console shape on a Ferrari; it's all relevant to context. A few were great with fluffy white sand but lots had hard and crusty brown sand, a few even had puddles that made it impossible to hit from.

Greens: As alluded to previously, they had top dressing of sand on them that may not have affected breaks all that much but did come into play with speed. Overall though they held shots and rolled true so that's all that matters (just ask Keith who made a great 30+ footer).

ETC: Carts packed with ice and water to start. Wonderful GPS and as if that wasn't enough, they provide you with a complimentary yardage book. Golf towel, divot tool, and marker are finite touches that make this place the classiest. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not one person treated me any less than VIP status. Layout is wonderful with a good mix of holes. An air conditioned bathroom, ice cold water every three holes, and plentiful visits from the cart attendant in the desert make all the difference. The fact this place is in better shape at 115 degrees outside than most places in decent weather near my home is astounding. HIGHLY recommended.

Played the Blues (6711/72.9/135) in 4H with guru's Sixpex, KG1791 & Sbarajasjr. Thanks to Keith, Kevin and Sal for a fun round. Considering that I woke up to a thunderstorm nearby, the weather was surprisingly good although it was nearing 110 when we finished at 11am. Late minute fill-in for Kevbig. Got there in a U-Haul, played in tennis shoes and used my wife's clubs since I was not planning on playing this weekend and left my clubs in Simi. Still a no brainer to get out on one of my favorite courses, because everything about this place is top notch. The Bermuda tees were nicely maintained, with only the par 3's needing divot attention. The Bermuda fairways were lush, mowed close and mostly firm. However, you could also hit patches that were soft where your drive would stop like a well struck iron on a green. The Bermuda rough was lush. Nice to chip from as the ball usually sat up, but long enough to grab your club. Most of the sand traps were nicely maintained. However, numerous traps had standing water from sprinkler runoff/overflow. The greens were much smoother than when I played here a week ago. They had a light top dressing and the vericutt from earlier is almost gone. They were fairly smooth for Bermuda, firm and putted medium speed. There are lots of undulations producing subtle breaks, tougher than average to read IMO. Love this Palmer layout. Many holes have a large lake down 1 side and trees &/or a ravine on the other. While most fairways are not tight, most holes also have a half dozen or so large fairway traps to avoid. The customer service was excellent from everyone encountered. Saw the cart gal numerous times. Complementary water and range balls on a 1st class grass practice facility. Definitely recommended.

Played Thurs. 08/31 in the GK Guru group with Keith, Sal and Nick. I was extremely surprised how good of shape the course was in being that it is the end of summer and the blistering heat they are having. Tee Boxes are in great shape, level with hardly any divot damage. Fairways are lush, but a little soft. Not much roll on your drives. Rough was not very high and easy to hit out of. Greens looked great. No divot damage on them. They had a very fine top dressing on them but did not effect any putts. They are "summer slow" this time of year. Service was excellent.
