Played 4/27 blues and 4/28 whites using under par $60 2some which includes 2 drinks,
POP 3-20 and 3-10 with out trying to hurry and time spent looking for the occasional wayward shot.
Greens are almost fully recovered medium-fast rolled smoothly-pin placements the same both days utilizing the undulations where the hole would be close to an edge of the contour so a putt or chip that went a foot past would pick up an extra 4-6 feet or have ore break than anticipated. Like on 3 today--blue flag about 155 to pin hit it to 6 feet below the hole right to left break read a cup but missed it left (barely) now 4 footer coming back looked straight but wasnt. 3 putt from 6 feet half an Ernie.
Actually pin placements added to the challenge-- sure wasnt boring. A few un-repaired ball marks and apparently the mower was leaking oil on 4/27 leaving drips and lines on many of the greens-- didnt affect play these two days and hopefully wont cause serious damage.
Tees in good shape. Bunkers I found were playable.
Fairways on Wed. seemed more thin but on Thurs. never had a bad lie--noticed that the further up the fairway and closer to the center the better the grass. Areas off the fairway bare and sandy or hard dirt or a mix of "native" grass and indigenous plants/ weeds maybe Even in its present state I enjoy the layout and had a good 2 days of play.
Staff is friendly and welcoming. Was told that the new owners are negotiating for additional water and have an additional 2 $million to invest in improvements and reconditioning. For me I will come back to play periodically to check progress.

Played today, used an GroupGolfer coupon for $28 including range balls. While more details are included below, the short version is the course is on it's way back - make no mistake, they've still got a LONG way to go, but if the work done so far is any indication they're definitely on the right track. Girl in the pro shop was nice, handed me a large bucket of range balls when I checked in - I figured it would be a smaller "warm-up" bucket and hadn't allowed that much time so ended up leaving about half on the range. Grass was in ok to good shape but not very representative of the course (much more lush on the range) - still, a nice perk for the price. Practice green near the first tee was very similar to on-course conditions and is large enough to practice putts of all lengths and slopes - given the size and slopes on the course it's something you really need to do before heading out. POP was very good - as a single every group I caught was very courteous in letting me play through. It was a very casual round and still finished in just over 3 hours. Overall conditions: Tees were quite good, not much wear even on the par 3 holes. They've shut down some on several holes, my guess is they will be addressed later. Makes for some long holes from the blue tees as some were set all the way back. Greens and surrounding areas are in good shape, fairly firm but consistent, plan on more run-out than most. Surrounding areas could be both lush and quite tight, but it appears to be part of an overall plan, bump and run shots will work on most holes and if you miss in the "correct" spot(s) you could putt from as much as 5-10 yards off the green. Miss in the "wrong" spot and it gets thick, gnarly and less consistent. They rolled quite true, somewhat slow to start but as they dried out they got faster. Lots of subtle slopes but I misread the breaks all day - too much one hole, too little the next. May just be a part of the greens growing out, or it might be the grain has more influence than I thought - or it might have simply been a bad putting day. Bunkers varied, some kinda heavy, some nice, some a little thin/crusty. Most have some larger pebbles/rocks in them so be careful but they were decent to play from. So far, so good. Fairways/rough still need a LOT of work. The fairways that are growing in are nice (for the most part) but there's still plenty of ground under repair (current local rule is if you're in any of those areas, marked or not, take a drop). $15 is playing as a Par 3 (no distance marker, take your best guess!) as the ground from tee up to that point is going to be a long-term project. I've always liked the basic layout as it makes you think - Driver or something less, what club should I use for the approach - do I fly it to the hole or land it short and let it roll out, etc. Better hit it where you aim it, off-line can get ugly in a hurry! All-in-all, I was encouraged by what I saw today. As I was leaving I crossed paths with one of the project managers - they know they're only about 50% of the way back but what's already been done was done right so that bodes well for the future Is it worth the current $35 price tag? Hard to say. Course design, greens and tees would be a yes, rest of the course not so much - however, if you think about it as helping to contribute to the restoration (or can get a discount) then yes. I'll be back in a couple months to see what's changed - here's hoping it's all for the good!

4/17 900 am tee time warm sunny no wind from the blues, 1st time back since re-opening and about 3 weeks since aerating greens which were for the most part decent, front 9 was slower and just a little bumpy in places but not a big deal. Back 9 medium fast and generally smooth. Another week and the greens will be back as the high-light of the course due to the usual quality size and pin placements that can provide quite a challenge. the heart of the fairways are in good shape with good lies. Off the fairway is generally bare sandy soil. Traps looked ok. Tees were lush and level. Staff are friendly and really glad to welcome golfers. Used 2-some $60 under par voucher POP 3 1/2 hrs. Fun layout with some improvements and more on the way. Currently #15 is a par 3 while re-sodding fairway. Fairway bunker in the middle of one is gone and 5 and 14 are now separate greens. I am glad to see the course open again, it is not fantastic but is better and shows that there is effort to make it better. Give it a try and see what you think.

Staff here is great from the cart attendant to the starter. The course is starting to show signs of life and looking better than it has. The tee boxes were recently plugged, which made finding a good area to tee it up a puzzle. The fairways are beginning to fill out in many places on every hole and not on others. There was a lot of work going on around the course which was a welcome sight. The greens are in pretty good shape but not all were holding approach shots very well. The starter and signage around the course request that you not drive on the fairway grass - but pick either side of the fairway and stay in the rough. The traps were in fair shape and the round took about 4 1/2 hours to play - with a foursome holding up groups ahead. The earliest tee time here in 7 am. We were told it was a staffing and money issue. I will be back this year and hopefully find the course in better shape than it was today. The rates are very reasonable!

This is going to be a difficult review for me because I tend not to be critical. My experience started when I called to ask about the "cart path only" warning. Initially a lady who spoke very poor English could only say "Yes - path only". I called back later and spoke with a guy who informed me that it was "fairways only" and I was not drive in the rough. So, OK I figured I can live with that, so made the first tee time which was 7:08am. Yeah, that's right 7:08 is there first time.

Arrived there at 6:15 because I didn't trust the information, but they were right because the girl did not even open the pro shop until after 7:10???. Finally teed off at about 7:30.

There is no rough to avoid driving on! It's totally dirt ! Some of the fairways are very thick and uncut, while others are very thin with lots of bare areas. It was rather sad to see any course in this condition. I realize that water is at a premium and that with so little play and the absence of an income stream from fees, there is not a lot the owners can do. It isn't blame, so much as it's just unfortunate circumstances.

In all fairness, the greens were rather good, albeit too slow for my taste. I enjoyed perfect weather, an empty golf course, and was still able to finish by 9:40 despite the late start. I must admit I actually enjoyed the round, even with the questionable conditioning of the course.

Links courses are generally not to my liking, but throw in the poor condition, and I suspect it will be a while before I return. I sure hope they find a way to turn this place around, because I would hate to see yet another golf course close. I'm sure my poor review will not help the situation.

Got out today in the morning around 8. Played using a group golfer voucher for 2 people for 60 which included a drink. Pace was great in that I got to play with no waiting as my group and another 2 some were the only ones to play the course because of the rain and wind. They allow walking which is great since it is cart path only for now. As for the course itself, the conditions of the tee box, most Fairways , and greens were way better than before. The highlights of the course are the Fairways where the grass is lush. The greens had no ball marks and rolled medium and true. For those that played before the course closed this is a vast improvement on those conditions. The rough was non existent it was dirt or very short grass. Bunkers had huge rocks in them, it does say you can move them out of the way with no penalty.
The course has come along way from where it was before. I would probably give this course another look in a couple of months after the rains have stopped. Hopefully this el Nino will help grow the rough.
One gripe I had with the course are the coots and geese. There were droppings everywhere on the Fairways it was like these birds came and dropped bombs all over the fairways. Other than that I hope new ownership holds and the conditions hold course in improvements. Will be back and if they have specials like group golfer again I will buy more vouchers.

Left my camera here 2 weeks ago, so stopped by to collect it after playing Redhawk. Played the blues (6741/72.7/132) in less than 3 hours on a partly cloudy, fairly calm Sunday evening. This would be a challenging course to walk, several holes are a very long way from the last green, especially from holes 9 to 10. Most tees are almost hardpan, thin but playable. However, only a few par 3's had severe divot damage. The fairways are more sandy than grass areas on nearly every fairway, more packed sand than turf. Unless you move your ball, hitting a ball off these fairways is often like being in a waste bunker. The rough is minimal, mostly hardpan, weeds or sandy areas. The sand traps were generally in good shape. Good quality, fine sand, recently raked. Many of the fairway traps have large lips where you may not be able to advance the ball toward the hole if you are too close to the front. The aprons are hardpan and generally require a bump & run shot or putting off them. Not many players are going to hit lofted clubs successfully around these greens because of how firm the hardpan is, almost every lie will be tight. The greens putted decently, medium fast and very firm. The players who regularly play this course do a VERY poor job at repairing ball marks, there were far too many on almost every green. The customer service was excellent, starting with them retrieving my camera and holding it for me for the last 2 weeks. Numerous water stations on the course. Fun & very challenging layout. In spite of the condition of the course, I would definitely play here again because of the layout.

First time here, played the blues (6741/72.7/132) with RGM2525 in about 3H, 45M on a beautiful but windy weekday. First the good, the layout is excellent. Five par 5's and five par 3's is a + to me. The fairways are well bunkered with many mounds and numerous burns crisscross several fairways that have to be avoided. The green complexes are huge and undulating. The holes are both fun and challenging. Now, the bad. The overall course conditions are not close to good. The tees are thin but playable. Many are almost hardpan. However, only a few par 3's had severe divot damage. Previous reviewers commented on the fairways. Calling these fairways thin really isn't accurate. There are more sandy areas than grass areas on nearly every fairway, they are more packed sand than turf. This would be a challenging course to walk, several holes were a very long way from the last green, especially from holes 9 to 10. Fun & very challenging layout, I can only imagine how excellent this course was when it was lush & green in some of the photo's and the now mostly dry lakes were filled with water. In spite of the condition of the course, I would definitely play here again.
