Played here again this past weekend with a terrific amateur player who plays here 4x/wk. It was pretty neat to watch how the course could be managed from the tips (him) and mis-managed (me) for a 20-stroke difference.
Anyway, the new GPS is here, and it's one of the nicer ones, although they force you to listen/watch Jack describe each hole as you roll up on the tee box. Definitely slows down play, and makes you wait about :10-:15 before you can get your yardage. No option to shut Jack up (no disrespect meant Mr Nicklaus).
I was a little disgruntled by the starter not keeping me informed (I was a single, and got skipped by "buddies of the head pro" because of the tardiness of a couple of people they'd paired me with). When I asked the guy in the proshop, the starter (you know the type) got all huffy and said "if you want to complain, I'll send you out alone". Nope, just let me know what the heck's going on, pal, and we'll be cool.
Despite the ruffled feathers on my and his parts, the course was incredibly well conditioned for mid August. Tees, fairways, and greens showed stress from the constant play coupled with heat, but after the re-seed next week, I predict awesome playing conditions the remainder of the year.
Just try to avoid getting your hackles up by an old-style starter who doesn't have caddies to manipulate anymore.

Played here on a beautiful summer morning with very little wind. This is my first time playing here and is now my favorite golf course in Vegas. Conditions for the summer were immaculate. From tees to greens could not find a fault! Layout is superb with every hole a different signature hole. Views of the valley are spectacular. The summer deal for locals was $79 about double other courses but you also get a sleeve of prov1's and lunch off the menu before or after the round!! Well worth the price since it is morning round as well before the heat of the day. My new favorite golf course in Las Vegas. A must play!!

This course was in amazing condition. Seeing as though I live in Minnesota, this was my first round in 6 months, but this course was manegeable after the long lay off. Little tricky with the wind, which died down after 9 holes, but all in all, this was a very nice course. I would highly recommend this course.

Just a quick note to let you know that caddies are gone. Clubcorp killed the program Nov 1st. I attempted to play the course on a windy day last week, gave up after 8, but it was nice to not have to deal with a caddy. (Just my preference.)

Signature Gold price is up to $35. Compared to Canyon Gate at $20, Canyon Gate is the deal of the year. I hate to quibble about paying $35 for a $250 course, but to pay that for a cart without GPS? Cmon guys, why is it $35?

They tell me GPS at Bears Best in a few months. (No caddies anymore means the upscale resort golfer paying $250 for a round must have GPS.)

Almost perfect greens; far better than any to be found currently on the "country club for a day" circuit. Caddie was excellent, and worked his rear-end off for us. Course was in good shape. Staff were friendly. Couldn't ask for anything more.

Had an 11:50am starting time on 11/26. Our forecaddie was John. John should find a new line of work. I have never seen someone more incompetent. He did not know the breaks of the greens, gave minimal information, most of it incorrect. Spent a great deal of time eating his lunch instead of paying attention to what we were doing. By the 17th hole, he was off by himself, hitting wedge shots! Pathetic.

It was a fantastic golf course, and we came a long way to play it, but the round was really ruined by the caddie they stuck us with. I can't imagine him keeping that job very much longer. The single that joined us had a buddy who just rode along with him in the cart as a walker. He turned out to be a d%mn ed good player who hit a few shots here and there just for fun with my sticks, and despite not ever seeing the course before, helped me more with the breaks on the greens than our poor excuse for a caddie. I hope some of you have a better experience than my wife and I did.

If you are ever in Las Vegas and want to play a premier course, this is the one. I have never had such a wonderful time. The course is by far the best and the people there only know how to please. My caddy was Mike Mendoza, and I would recomend him to anyone.

Nice course with some challenging terrain. The course is not as nice as the pictures would suggest with many construction areas adjacent to the course. Conditions were okay but not fantastic. Greens were fast but too firm to hold any shots. Tough to even find divots on the greens due to the firmness. Course plays a little tricked up with many bunkers and several forced layups off the tee box. Not wild about the forecaddie. After the first time around, I can't see much advantage for the cost. Much prefer GPS with visuals of the layout of the holes and greens. Pace of play is about 5 hours. Bathroom facilities are scarce on the course. Par 3's are really difficult due to the firmness of the greens (and multiple bunkers). Like any other Vegas course, this one is overpriced. Locals on Sundays can play for $60 (plus $30 caddie gratuity) during the summer months. Overall, a nice course that is fun and challenging to play...recommended, but there are better deals and courses in town.

This is a great course in outstanding condition-no other way to describe it. Thoroughly enjoyed the round, and the concept of sending every group out with a forecaddie is brilliant. It eliminates all those mistakes made from not knowing a course the first time you play it, saved me at least 4 strokes.
The course is popular, so book a tee time in advance.

Beautiful course featuring a combination of holes from Nicklaus's favorite designs; PGA West, Castle Pines, ect. Played on a Thursday. The course was in beautiful shape and pace of play was good. No waiting. Measures 6628 from the Blues. Not too difficult, but a good challenge. For Las Vegas locals the cost is $80 a round plus a tip for the Fore Caddie ($25 recommended). The Fore Caddie had excellent knowledge of the course and was very helpful. I'd highly recommend this course to everyone; Las Vegas locals and out of towners. It's worth the price.

played on dec.29/05. Golf course was in incredible condition!!! Hands down, the best golf course i have ever played. Greens were in great shape, fairways was perfect, staff was friendly and my caddy(Jay don`t know last name) was AWESOME!!!!! Par 3 16th without a doubt the most scenic golf hole in las vegas area. The finishing hole 18th was most definitely PGA material. I would definitely and highly recommend and would definitely play this desert OASIS again!!!!!!!!

Bear's Best is by far the most fantastic golf course I have ever played. We teed-off with a "fore-caddy". His job is to keep track of the golf balls, give distances to the flag, and point you correctly off the tee, all for a round less than $100.00. Each golf hole is representative of a famous golf hole. I can't wait to go back and replay the course.
