Hadn't played here for a few years, the course was in pretty good shape considering the extreme heat and drought conditions. Even the mature elm trees which line much of this course were showing signs of stress, sure hope the monsoon delivers soon.

This is an old school layout, looks like a course somewhere in the Midwest, with wall to wall grass on a lot of it, and the deciduous trees, which are making the fairways narrower every year as the crowns grow wider. It's a good course to walk at a decent price considering there is not much public golf in the area.

Played here yesterday (6/7) for the first time ever alongside Jim "RatPatrol" Davis on a picturesque northern Arizona day; low to mid 80's and a slight/mild wind all day. This course is one a few public ones in the Prescott area and after having played here, can hold it's own. The property has two different 18 hole options and the South seems to be just as good as the North we played. Layout is parkland-style and a bit old school, but features a handful of long par 4's, plenty of uphill holes, and really good conditions all around. Tees: As Rat pointed out to me, all the tee markers seemed to be placed exactly 10 yards apart. Tee boxes themselves were a bit chewed up, but nothing so terrible it would cause a problem (played the gold tees). Fairways: Good to great shape. Visually green, offering a ton of roll (sometimes good, sometimes bad if you hit the ball like I did) and no bad lies really. Rough: Thick in certain areas, especially under the countless tress that line nearly every hole. Plenty of shots had to be "take your medicine"-types, as the rough did tend to make you rethink club selection. Sand: Was only in one bunker and it looked worse than it played; i.e. appeared as though there wasn't enough sand, was able to get a sand save! Rakes were available and for the most part people used them. Greens: The highlight for Rat and I. We came in expecting them to be like everything else in AZ right now; punched, dry, and awful. Pleasantly surprised to see they were smooth, popped with nice green color, and ran at a medium-med. fast pace with some tricky breaks. A pleasure to see Jim dominate them! ETC: Rather old and beat up property in every other regard. Clubhouse has what you need: pro shop with nice staff, lounge/bar with plenty of regulars, facilities for the men's club, etc. just don't expect anything fancy. Carts are also bare-bones, however they ARE gas powered so get ready to smell diesel all day. On the course, saw the cart attendant twice, noted that there were a few jugs of water peppered throughout the course, and of note to those who are used to picking up something at the turn, the 9th does NOT head back towards the clubhouse, so make sure you bring everything you need. For a great price of $45+tax, this is a great option if you are in the area. Highly recommend, especially if you enjoy airplanes as the regional airport is flanked on either side by holes from North.

12:45 tee time with Sal the Cottonwood kid, went off a bit early and finished in just under 4 hours. Found the course in surprisingly nice condition. Old school course and set up by the small airport. Tees: mostly flat with full coverage Fairways: very nice to hit from and looked good as well, LOTS of roll out, but still lush and green Rough: nice length and fairly consistent, definitely effected shot selection Bunkers: pretty consistent, not soft, not firm just playable Greens: very nice, with basically medium-fast speed but tricky to read speed consistently due to tricky slopes and grain, I made some putts I missed some putts Customer service: just the way I like it, they check you in send you off and leave you alone. Snack cart came by a few times. Overall: a very pleasant, basic golf experience with really good muni condition. I’ve paid far more for far less!

Played July 24. Been a long time since I played this course. Some of the trees are gone, they get old and die or blow over on these older park style courses. Don't understand why they don't plant new trees in anticipation of this happening. Not just here but most courses like this fail to plant new trees. Still a very challenging course in very good shape. Half of course flat around airport, other half on side of hill. Pilot training schools for helicopters and airplanes mean lots of noise. Not to distracting and kind of interesting to see all kinds of aircraft. Harder than south course but fair.

I played here on 3-16-13. This an old style course with tall mature tree lined narrow fairways and lots of OB. Unless you have the ability to hit your driver very accurate and shape it both ways, I wouldn't play the back tees your first time playing it. I did enjoy the challenge of the course and it will test your nerve when you are staring down a long narrow fairway with OB on both sides ! As far as conditions, I feel like I can't be to harsh given the weather has been pretty crazy lately. Snow one week and 70 degrees the next. The tee boxes were a little beat up, fairways fair, greens fast and rolled true, bunkers fair with mix of sand and dirt. The service was great and we saw the cart girl 3 times. We walked and played in a little over 4 hours
