Played here this morning. They had a 9:00 shotgun outing with only about 8 groups spread throughout the back nine. I was paired with three really fun guys and we started on the 14th hole. We played at a great pace, but never caught the group ahead until the last handful of holes. Total of just over 4 hours. The course is in very nice shape all around. The tee boxes were excellent and the fairways were lush with a good overseed. The rough is left tight and dormant bermuda for that cool gold contrast with the dark green fairways. The lines and contours were very clean throughout the course. Bunkers had very soft beach sand. The greens were great. They rolled at medium speeds and were very true/smooth. I am shocked that I am the first person to ever review this course on GK because it's a gem. It's a newer course, designed primarily by Notah Begay III, and it's home to the University of Arizona golf teams. Ironic considering Begay is a Stanford alum, but his Native American heritage fits with this being a tribal casino resort course. This is a really fun layout that presents so many options. I wish I was a longer hitter to take advantage of the many risk/reward options here. Every hole seems to have multiple ways you can attack it, either conservatively or aggressively for a good score. The greens have some tricky undulation and there are a lot of hazards/desert areas in play. It's definitely a course you need to play multiple times to figure out some holes because there are a number of semi-blind shots and awkward angles. Strategically, it really reminded me of Sevillano Links in NorCal with a more modern linksy design and different options to consider on so many holes. Highly recommended!
