Played an early round here today while staying in Modesto. I saw that they had tee times as early as 6:07 available on their website, but they were for twosomes or more. As a single, I figured I'd arrive pre-dawn to make sure to get out ahead of the crowd. There was no "crowd" and the pro shop wasn't open yet, but another dew-sweeper arrived and teed it up. The maintenance guy came by and let me know it was no problem to go out and then check in at the turn, so I teed off a little after 6:00 and was done in about 2.5 hours (walking front nine and riding on the back). After some of the previous reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect here in terms of conditions. I was very pleasantly surprised as everything was pretty lush and green throughout the course. This is definitely a good time of year for this course. The tee boxes were generally nice. A few could use some leveling out, but no big issues. The fairways were quite good throughout the course. Some weak spots here and there, but I almost always had ideal lies. The rough had pretty good coverage (mostly good grass and some clover patches mixed in) and was pretty difficult in spots. It didn't seem super deep, but the ball would really settle in and recoveries were often tough. Sand traps were very good. The greens are about 90% recovered from the recent aeration. Soft and rolling pretty well at medium speeds. The course is a pretty traditional and mostly basic layout. Tree-lined fairways run back and forth, and most holes are flat and pretty wide open from tee to green. It's nothing too exciting or difficult, but solid enough for a relaxed round of golf.

I hate to say this, but, this course is going downhill fast. It is a good layout and has some very good strategic holes. The conditions are getting to a point where I may not play here anymore. Once the summer hits here it will become unplayable. Right now the fairways are mostly weeds, the rough is weeds, some grass and a large number of bare spots. There is very little maintenance being done. Sorry, that's the best I can do for this course.

This is the stepchild of Modesto! They only do just enough maintenance to get by, this is really a shame because IMHO this is a better layout then Creekside. It has a lot of mature trees which force ball positioning of the tee as well as accuracy.
The course is not well maintained, the tee boxes are reasonable, the fairways have a weeds but are very playable. The rough is what you would expect, some hard pan, some bare spots, some ground squirrel dens. The bunkers are poor but have enough sand/dirt to be playable. They do try to maintain the greens pretty well but unfortunately the people that play here don't fix ball marks and drag their feet, so as a consequence they gat bumpy. Also they are usually around a 9 because they keep the grass higher due to the heat and the players.
I enjoy playing here because it is target golf and its only $19 for seniors, this lets me to get past all the shortcomings. Also pop is a lot better than Creekside (4.5-5).

It is what it is. Old style course, tree lined fairways and small greens. Everything sparse this time of year, bermuda fairways and rough. Good course for the $. Don't expect to much and have fun.

If you dont like trees then this is not the place for you. Basically if you are not not eh fairway you will be screwed. IF you can keep it on the fairway then it is actually a very nice course. The only problem I have seen lately is that the T's are not level at all. Occasionally you will get the greenskeepers fixing things while you are playing.

People at desk are great, always willing to work with you to get you onto the course without affecting pace of play. Very challenging if you get into mature trees that line fairways, some of which overhang just off tee boxes so tee shot needs to be on line or you will end up in jail. Sandtraps need serious help, they are like playing in mud in the morning; I constantly watch groundskeepers watering traps early in the morning and wonder why. Very good layout for muni course, if the fairways and sand were kept up better, might be better course than crosstown rival, Creekside.

Need to puta little money in course and spiff it up , but not a bad round. stay in fairways to avoid trees. Bermuda fairways are dormant now but still play good. Not best in area but alot of fun to play

Greens were punched a week ago, still pretty tore up. A few of the holes had some pretty big piles of sand to cover some damage, but I'm sure they'll be fine in a few weeks. Fairways were really dry, maybe dormant, I couldn't tell for sure, but it was as bad as hitting of dirt.
Pace was good, the local that was our 3rd said that Dryden is too long for the seniors (he included himself in that group), and the only time they come over is when Creekside has a tourney. For a muni, I thought it was ok - I've seen worse and better. I'll probably play it again next time I'm up...assuming they haven't aerated in the past month ;)
