Course was in beautiful shape, fairways and greens were excellent. Best value for greens fee in the central valley after 1pm (20$ with a cart) especially with quality and condition of course. It plays in the foothills with some very picturesque holes either going up or downhill. The wind plays a factor in some holes as well so you can grip and rip for some, others you have to be a shotmaker like #16, a severe downhill par 4 with water at 220 yds or if you can carry your drive 260 yds over water to a 30 yd wide strip that leads to the green. Tip- don't try it, the wind swirls and will kill your drive over the water. Better to go 3-4 iron off the tee and be in front of water to have a clean approach to the island green. Love the course, played it last year in a tournament and have played there several times since. It is worth the drive.
Played Turkey Creek in July and September. Beautiful course in foothills of Lincoln, Ca outside Sacramento. Very well laid out using natural rocks formations. Lots of uneven stances due to slope of fairways, you do not want to be in the rough as it is thick. First tee box is on bluff overlooking fairway with big landing area but well guarded by trees on right if you take it too far. Really need distance control on a lot of tee shots, also it gets tighter through the middle holes of the course. On the back nine, one par 3 has huge elevation change down to hole, guarded by water along front of green, play to middle of the green as both times I played pin placement is near the water side edge of green which looks very tempting 145 yards away. Finishing hole is longer than it looks and do not be right or you will have a lot of water to carry, if you miss short right, shot up the hill is very difficult as it will be blind. Lots of fun, very challenging, worth the trip, greens fee a little pricy but carts have GPS. Food is excellent, service is very good in clubhouse and snack bar.
Excellent course, plays within/between very nice community, upscale homes. Green fees at $25 with cart M-F are the best around, make the 65 mile trip worth it alone. Very picturesque, plays up and down foothills on the outskirts of Brentwood. The par 3 7th hole plays downhill 150 yds, but looks like 175 as you stand on tee box looking over bluff to hole...soft 7 iron or firm 8 puts you in middle of undulating green that funnels to the middle. All the greens have a lot of undulation to them so you really have to watch where you hit to on greens so ball will release to holes. Course really takes advantage of natural rock formations around fairway bunkers, especially the uphill holes 1, 6 and 12. On the downhill holes, you can really play the slope of the hill to get ball to run out, add extra yards to tee shots. Great course, well designed and can't beat the price, this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks I have played here and plan on playing aout once a month fom now on. Has a sister course called Deer Ridge across the street and we are going to play there next week.
The course overall was in great shape, pin placements were very tough as usual, very often right on break point on slopes. If you were not below the hole on approach shot, it made for a very tough 2-3 putt, particularly on #3, #5, #12 and #13. Shot 8 shots over average but it was such a beautiful day, no pressure from group behind, felt like going 36 instead of 18 except that it was heating up in the valley, over 100 degrees at 2:30. Course played tough all day...worth every penny!

People at desk are great, always willing to work with you to get you onto the course without affecting pace of play. Very challenging if you get into mature trees that line fairways, some of which overhang just off tee boxes so tee shot needs to be on line or you will end up in jail. Sandtraps need serious help, they are like playing in mud in the morning; I constantly watch groundskeepers watering traps early in the morning and wonder why. Very good layout for muni course, if the fairways and sand were kept up better, might be better course than crosstown rival, Creekside.
Coupon made it a great price but it would have been nice for desk to tell us greens had just been aerated, were bumpier than I remember. We completed round in 3 1/2 hours as a 2some, but got a warning from water cart guy/marshall for slow play on back nine although we were always walking off green when group behind us drove up into fairway to hit. Maybe it was the blind shots and lack of familarity of the course...we picked it up and ran promptly into group of 5 ahead of us, talk about slow play. Greens will be fast again soon when they heal, just would have saved the trip for another time if I had been made aware.
Defintely worth the trip. Level tee boxes, clean, green fairways with very few bare spots; fast greens with no bumps. Only sand was issue as top layer was like concrete due to recent rains and underneath very soft so they played poorly.
Played the course during the week with 5 friends, 1 that never played there before. Course was in great shape, greens were especially well manicured, fast and true. The price was great with there golf "stimulus" plan, but didn't slow play any at all even with a full house. Probably my most enjoyable round this winter.
Stopped to play with a friend on the way to San Diego for business on a Sunday. Pretty pricy for public course, but clubhouse, range snack area were nice...so far, so good. Greens were a little sandy, slowed ball down somewhat but overall nice. Sand was very nice also, course layout and conditions was good enough, Stonehouse layout was beautiful and was getting over the price but caught up to a very slow playing 4 some that extended round well past enjoyable. No course marshall on a Sunday for $80 price tag? It was agonizing watching them ahead of us, we caught them several times but they had no clue about proper ettiquete, etc. and basically ruined the late afternoon, back nine.
The fairways needed a lot of work, bare on many areas. Greens were not nearly as fast as past times but fairly true. Really looked forward to playing there with a couple of friends who hadn't played there before...they thought it was challenging but fairways looked better from freeway than actually playing on it. Driving range really needs help, probably should use mats because tee area is really uneven, lots of weed growth, hard to find a smooth spot to hit any balls. Overall, dissapointing compared to previous visits but at least they had a great winter deal for carts.
Easy to lose balls in trees that line fairways, no water holes
