First time here. Outside of the pace, which got better after about hole 4, really enjoyed it. Lots o' deer were a pleasant touch.

Whatever your eyes tell you about the greens, don't trust 'em. As said by others, the greens all go away from the mountains, despite it appearing differently.
Also, don't assume the tee boxes are level because they appear that way. My father-in-law figured it out after about 11 ;)

Price was right (at) $25 for a weekday.

Will definitely be back!

Played 9/19. Got on early for our 11a tee time. I was amazed that my partner and I weren't paired with the twosome in front of us. The starter "play with them or not - totally up to you."
Played the front 9 in 90 mins. I was thrilled. Back 9 took 3 hours. I couldn't tell why for sure - it didn't seem like any of the 3 groups in front of us (couldn't really observe much farther ahead than that) changed their pace.
Greens still recovering from aeration. This course is always a pleasure to play, especially considering it's a muni. Not mention the $44 on a Friday with a cart.

My one and only tip from today? BRING YOUR OWN BEVERAGES. We saw the cart girl twice. Once while we were finishing 8 and as we were driving from 9 to 10.

This was my first time playing La Contenta and I really enjoyed it. Too bad it's an hour from my in-law's place, but worth the drive. My father-in-law used to play this course often (10 yrs ago when he was playing a lot) and it helped having someone that knew the course.
Played on 7/5/08. We got right on, ahead of our 12:12 tee time, just the 2 of us (which was cool). We were pretty close to the foursome ahead of us, but when we got to the first par 5, they had hit their tee shots and were waiting for us to come up and play through....VERY COOL of them. The course didn't feel extremely "hard" but it was challenging. Greens were rolling nicely - the starter had said they were a 9.5 that morning. They also post the stimp reading each morning on their web site.

If you're within an 90 min drive, this course is must play. Further than that, then I'd say try to make at some point - you won't be disappointed!

I was really expecting much less from this course, but was pleasantly surprised! My father-in-law said the constant changes in elevation kept it "confusing" and I tend to agree. Not really confusing to me, but definitely kept it from becoming routine or boring. Didn't notice any water coming into play anywhere, but frankly didn't miss it ;-)

We noticed as we were driving up how green it was - that was nice. All the temporary tee boxes on the par 3s are gone, so yardages are back to scorecard. Beware the sand - absolutely horrible. They might as well be filled with dirt. By the time I needed to get out of one, I had seen 3 of our 5 take a total of about a dozen swings to get out of 3 bunkers.

For $23 (the guys holding LA County Sr. cards played for 11.50), I'll definitely be back.

Played 6/7. Met up with fellow GKer Audac1ty via Meet Me At/Posted Tee Time. How cool was that? Very cool! Back to the course....
We got there an hour ahead of our 10:36a time. Starter/Club house was getting people out on time and they were great. I couldn't believe it took us 6 hours to play. We were never backed up more than 1 group on any given hole and didn't feel like we were waiting extraordinarily long at any time, but there you have it. The greens were in really nice shape, a little slower than I anticipated, but ball marks were few and far between. The GPS on our cart wasn't working and after the 3rd hole, I disconnected and reconnected it. It rebooted (complete with Safe Boot or Latest Version Boot options) and, voila!, it worked.
I think this is fast becoming one of my favorite courses. Nice variety in the holes, the 2 deer we saw near the green on one of the back nine, and just an overall feel - it was real nice.

Really enjoyed my first time out here. We showed up about 30 mins prior to our tee time and they put us right on. Good thing - took 2.5 hours to play the first 10. Had they waited until our tee time (10:30), it definitely would have been a 5 or 5+ hour day.
The green on 14 had some older brown rings on it - similar to the fungus that's riddled Asuza Greens recently, but it seemed like it was pretty old and was healing around it.
Every flagstick had a smaller red flag halfway down that said "REPAIR YOUR BALL MARKS". Good for them! Also saw several signs scattered about that read about the healing time of repaired ball marks. Seems to help here too ;)

Greens were punched a week ago, still pretty tore up. A few of the holes had some pretty big piles of sand to cover some damage, but I'm sure they'll be fine in a few weeks. Fairways were really dry, maybe dormant, I couldn't tell for sure, but it was as bad as hitting of dirt.
Pace was good, the local that was our 3rd said that Dryden is too long for the seniors (he included himself in that group), and the only time they come over is when Creekside has a tourney. For a muni, I thought it was ok - I've seen worse and better. I'll probably play it again next time I'm up...assuming they haven't aerated in the past month ;)

Read the notes about the "brown rings of fungus" on the greens - only noticed it on half, maybe 2/3 of them.
First time playing, really enjoyed it. Our twosome showed up about 20 mins ahead of our tee time and straight to the first box. Pace moved nicely, marshall was cool. I'll definitely be going back.

The marshall did mention that it seems every weekend there's a tourney of 40 people, guys playing $10/hole, hitting from the Blues and barely getting the ball 50 yards, but sounded like it's an afternoon thing. Just a heads-up ;)

Enjoyed the easy-on and no-wait-play. Greens were really slow. Fairways played well. For a hack like me, this was a challenge, but rewarding enough for me to come back. ;-)
