Played on 12/8/11 on a dry but cool 55 deg day. Along with Pebble Beach Links, this is another stand out course. Views are great and course is almost always set up for fair but stern test of play. Greens aren't ridiculous like Spanish Bay and is receptive to good shot. Varying layout is interesting to keep your mind at bay while amazed at the scenery. Many golfers prefer SpyGlass vs. Pebble so play both and make your own determination. You won't be disappointed.

When I travel up to Monterey, Spyglass Hill is on the top of the list, easily surpasses Pebble Beach for layout, conditions, and challenge. If you've not played here, well, you must.

I play here for free about 2-4 times per year due to the fact that I work for NCGA Holding and that I am a NCGA touryment official. This was probably as bad as I have seen the greens for as long as I have been playing here. They usually run about 11-12 but this day where about 9 at best. I still shot a respectable 78 but left at least 4 strokes on the greens. Everything else was as always PERFECT. This is my favorite course in the country due to the fact that you have to realy think your way around. Spyglass forces the player to use every club in the bag. My favorite hole is No.1 a long sweeping to the left par 5, a good drive will still have you about 240 out with two very large bunkers gourding both front right and left. But the scenery as you walk down the hill towards the pacific is spectacular. At the end of the the day you realize that there is no bad hole or green on this course. What a great day!!!!!

I was fortunate enough to play here for Lexus Charity tourney on 12/9. Due to rain, course played very soft and super long. Some of the holes with ocean view was breath taking. From few of the ocean view holes, you can actually see few of the holes of Cypress Point (#3 best course in U.S.). Course itself was pretty benign but I played some horibble golf along with bad yardage by caddy. Still shot 91 with 4 triple bogeys. I would love to play here again now that I know how the course plays. Wild life was everywhere and course was beautiful. Pay extra careful attention to wind on holes that are near the ocean. Mild breeze vs no breeze could be difference up to 3 clubs. Few of the holes, its absolutely dead if you go long on the green. Pay close attention to contour of the green so you don't end up in the wrong spot. Absolutely beautiful. Hope I get to play it again next year.

Played this course the day before Pebble with a caddy. One of the best courses I have ever played, but too expensive for my tastes. Lots of deer, coyote and other wildlife in a forest setting. A beautiful course to walk. Fairways, greens, tee boxes and rough were perfect and the bunkers were near perfect. Played at 10:30 and there was no wind. If money were no object I would play this course over and over. Overall, this is a better course than Pebble, but Pebble is steeped in tradition and has a place on every golfer's bucket list.

Played here yesterday afternoon. Very little wind temp. about 65 with some fog and very light drizzle. The overall course is in emaculate condition, the fairways are perfect, the greens are firm and fast rolling about 10. This is one one my top two courses, the other is Pinehurst #2. The beach holes (2-5) have been made much easier due to the removal of the ice plant. When the course turns back inland you hardly see any other fairway or green due to the forest. THis course is just beautiful and toughas nails. The number one hole is a 360 yard par 4. I will be back next year.

Spyglass is one of my favortie courses to play anywhere. Had the pleasure of playing there three days in a row during a serious tournament last April and the course was in terrific condition. Greens were very smooth (even for Poa Annua) and, as always, incredibly difficult to score. If you can play to your handicap at this course, you've had a wonderful day.

Played 03/20/2010. Difficult! This is probably one of the hardest courses i've played in my life. Comparable to the TPC Stadium course at La Quinta in respect to difficulty. Other than that, the course was in perfect condition with great views. The layout was awesome with holes meandering through forest and sand dunes. Tee boxes, fairways, rough, bunkers, and the greens were in awesome form. However, I don't think it is worth the price. And i'm not just saying that because I got spanked out there.

I recommend playing Spanish Bay instead of Spyglass if you have to choose between the two. Especially if you're staying at the Inn.

Tough tough course, for me at least. Yes, costs a pretty penny, but gotta pay your dues to walk the same grounds as the champs. Very pretty course, starting out near the ocean before heading out to the forest. Greens are very tough and breaks more than most people think. A little hilly, but definitely a course to walk to get the whole feel for it. Conditions are great, although not many people replace their divots.
