First time playing Grand Cypress Golf Club as a friend and I played here during Thanksgiving week. We played the East/North combo at this 45 hole facility. There is a “New Course” that looks awesome, so maybe next time!

The East is on the narrower side and has as much water as you’d ever want. You have to hit good drives, play for the right angle into the greens, and the signature hole is the 5th. The 5th is a shorter par 3 that plays to an island green! Besides the water the green complexes proved to be the toughest part of the course. You need to hit the pitches high with quite a bit of spin. The North was more relaxing with wider fairway and less water in play, at least until the 7th through 9th. The 9th there is a long par 4 that reminded me of the 18th at TPC Sawgrass, at least from what I’ve seen on TV.

Conditions were nice. The greens on the East were smooth and quick. On the North they had a layer of sand, but it didn’t affect the roll or speed, just the look. The fairways were firm, but full. The sand was soft and fluffy. We booked through a third party side for a reasonable $65. If you don't mind losing a few golf balls, it is worth it for that price. Not sure it is a place where you will play your handicap unless you are a great golfer.
