Played here, on 8/21/13. Turned out to be one of may favorite days of golf anytime / anywhere. Quite simply, this may be my favorite course I've played. Granted, dozens of courses remain on bucket list, but I believe this one should be on everyone's list.

On the island of Lanai, which has only (2) resorts. The course is at the Four Seasons, Manele Bay. If you are staying on another isalnd, as I did (Maui), there is a 45 minute boat ride available to Lanai. Load up your clubs, enjoy the ride, and take a Four Seasons shuttle to the clubhouse. Great service inside and out. Beautiful clubhouse and grill, with spectacular vistas everywhere.

Nice practice facility, driving, chipping and putting. While I was there, only one other four ball behind me, so I literally had the entire course to my self, and played at my own pace. If only playing one ball, I could have finished in 2 hours, but wanted to spend as much time here as possible. Very warm 85-90, slight breeze, and humid. Very tropical conditions.

Unbelievable views from the entire course. Greens had been punched 2 weeks before I got there, and were still healing in areas, but I wasn't about to let that affect my perfect day. So easy to get distracted and lost in the views below the course, but the course really holds up well. Nicklaus design, but is very playable. Interesting holes all around, although 8 and 14 were two non-descript par 3's.

Fairways were perfect. I spent time looking for divots or repair marks on some holes and could not find any. Immaculate conditions tee to green.

Bunkers were nice. Just the right amount of sand and firmness, very playable.

12 and 17 are signature holes along the lava rock outcroppings and are among the most spectaular holes I have ever seen. Given the lack of player traffic, I spent much time on 12, hit several extra shots to the green and simply enjoyed the place I was in. Cold beer, tropical conditions, on an amzing golf hole, completely alone...Only sad because I couldn't share the experience with others who would appreciate the beauty.

One of, if not my favorite rounds / courses in my lifetime. I kissed the 18th green on the way to the clubhouse. Not sure when I'll be back, but I will be back. If you are in Hawaii, and on Maui, you must make this a day trip. I'm not sure about access to Lanai from Oahu, Kauai, or the Big Island.

Plan the day accordingly, and play the Lodge at Koele course the same day. It's another spectacular resort up in the hills of Lanai (30 minute shuttle) and completely different. A mountain feel to the resort and course, among tall pines, more similar to Lake Tahoe, than Hawaii. Enjoy!
