Played 4/13/12 @3pm walking with 4some in 4:15 hrs. Bing is immaculate this time of year just before scheduled punching. Greens were lightning quick and very challenging to putt and hold with anything bigger than 9-iron. Faiways green, dry and hard. Rough, thick and legit.
Course was filled with golfers but still played in just over 4hrs. One of the best walking courses ever due to conditions, pace of play and layout.

I guess I really don't know much better, but this course is fine. Not worth $46 with cart on a holiday Friday with a forecast of rain, but generally okay. It's immediately adjacent and, in a spot or two, facing the runway of a municipal airport. The general area is south Sacramento, and borders a rough part of town. There's an exec course and a regulation course. I played the exec course once last year and got called away before I could finish, so I can't really say much about it at this time. I don't know much about the refund policy of most courses in the event of rain. These guys post prominently that with a wet forecast, you assume the risk, which is cool. My party of four did just that, and made it through okay. The course is in okay shape. Not great, not terrible. Being a novice golfer, I really can't say I know what to expect in terms of conditions for a NorCal course in November. But I've seen much better (Ancil Hoffman) and worse (Bartley Cavanaugh) public courses in the same price range. One good thing about Bing Maloney is that most of the fairways are wide and forgiving. Even so, I shanked more than my share off the tees and often wound up in the rough! I'm not sure what contributes to this, but the pace of play was quite brisk this particular day. Maybe there were fewer golfers out due to the forecast, but I am definitely the weak link in the group I usually play with and, notwithstanding the fact that the two groups in front of us were walking and we were riding, we were still done in just under 4 hours.

played monday 3/28, teed off midmorning, hasn't rained in 48 hours after torrential rains all last week. i'd give it a 6/10 for drainage... most holes at best soggy, a few holes were dry. looks like they haven't mowed the fairways in a month, literally 1-2 inches of grass IN THE FAIRWAY. this is about 10 of the holes. i almost lost my ball in the middle of the fairway on my second shot #9. wait a few weeks to let some mowing happen before coming out.

Greens were very bumpy and tee boxes were not in great shape. Fairways were OK but there were some bare spots.

This course rocks. The fingers of fairway following the 4 ball tourney gives it a real championship feel.

Bing was in great shape. However, they just punched the greens so wait a couple weeks. This course offers many trees and dog legs. It's an old course with great character. I like it very much.

Played 12/25, foursome, teed off at 8:45 am, 4 1/2 rd. Pleasant, sunny, beautiful day. no wind, not too cold. course in good shape. greens smooth, running on the slower side. no complaints.

It's a nice course to go if you want to play cheap golf, very good value if you walk the course. Open fairway, tough rough but the greens are usually slow and bumpy.

Played in a.m. Jun 30. This course is a very good muni bargain. It's a typical muni - fairly open, flat, and not too much strategy. The course is in B+ condition; the greens are good, but the fairways have some bare spots. The staff is very friendly, and so are the people who play it. The vibe here is one where people feel good just to be playing, and no one expects a resort experience given the inexpensive rates. Expect a lot of roll on the fairways in the summer months. They're re-doing the clubhouse, so right now, refreshments are in the pro shop.
