Played on a 100 degree day and surprised to see to fellow golf nuts as well, even an outdoor wedding. The course played firm but the greens held shots, so obvious they water them. The fairways are firm but are not as green as they can be, but no different than any other course in the area except your private courses. The cart girl was very busy, she must've been cloned because she was everywhere on the course. Whitney Oaks played as difficult as ever but I can't recall ever hitting the ball so well, so I found myself in positions I've never been in before.

The tees and fairways at Whitney Oaks are in pretty decent shape...a few fairways have been recently punched so there are plugs all over but it seemed to our group that the ones that weren't aeriated were cut pretty low. The greens are bumpy, slower than I ever remember, and look a bit ugly but not sure if it's from the aerification process or an invasion of some other type of grass. As with most Johnny Miller courses, you'd swear there are bodies buried in the greens. The bunkers have been treated to some new sand since I was last wading around in them - a white sand that sometimes hides your ball if you're not looking right at it and if wet under the surface, not very easy to get out of. It's a tougher course, but interesting to play, fairly open front side and a much tighter stretch of holes on the back side...if the wind is up, it can be an "E-ride".

Course is coming back from what seems to be a LONG renovation over the past year and a half. Greens are at times excellent, at times OK. Green surrounds are coming in and pose a challange in chipping. Play from the correct tees and enjoy some of the most memorable holes in the area.

I played this course on 3/19. It is in the best shape I have ever seen as I have played here several times. The staff was friendly and courteous. The condition of the course was excellent and the pace of play was fast. A very enjoyable round of golf. The greens were fast and smooth. The fairways almost always gave me a good lie. The price through GolfNow was an excellent deal.

New owners have decided not to overseed in winter leaving fairways brown with lots of divots because the grass is not growing. Have replaced sod around greens twice and they are very uneven. Greens very thin. I am an annual member not renewing for 2006.

Whitney is in pretty nice shape. The fairways are brown, but this is because they've recently switched the grass to bermuda, which is dormant in the winter. However, it plays fast and smooth and holds your ball up nicely. I wish a lot of the courses around here would do the same. It might not look pretty and green, but it plays very nicely.

The greens are in perfect shape... a ball mark here and there, but fast and smooth. The sand is brand new and VERY fluffy. A little different than your usual rock hard sand traps... you can't let your club bury or the ball won't go anywhere. Tough stuff.

The guy I played with plays a lot here, and said it recently changed ownership, and that's why some of the changes are happening. So far, it's all good.

Great course.

Great course all around except for ball marks on greens. Very scenic and offers many risk and reward shots. Course management a must.

Same as below... the greens are excellent. Everything else is pretty much winter conditions with some soggy spots from all the rain.

The greens are great right now. They're a little soft from the rain of course, but they hold great, and are fast and smooth. Besides that, the course is pretty rough right now. Inconsistant and brown fairways and rough, and the tee boxes are pretty thin to muddy. There were plenty of wet spots around the course, but that's totally to be expected with the amount of rain we've had lately.

Regardless of the less than stellar conditions, this is a really fun and very challenging course.
