Played Friday 5/27, 8am shotgun. course in good shape. greens rolling average and consistent. nothing bad at all to say about shape of the course. As far as the course, decent challenge, several driveable greens, mostly forgiving. had fun.

Am hoping that once the greens are punched they will come back. There is not much challenge in the design with the exception of the undulating greens. Number 18 is a nice hole, but hitting an iron off the tee on a par five is not fun for me. It is worth it if you get a deal and need a warm-up round. The pace of play was great, and service was good.

went to bay area for the weekend. planned to play 1/23 in sac-town since my friend had business to attend to. had a gap of six hrs to spend. so i planned meticuously on web to schedule for those free hrs. drove from SF to sac-town in the morning, had teetime for 9:30. prior to booking teetime, called all the courses to check conditions since it had rained all week. all the pro shop attendees told me the course was not really playable. Wildhawk was the only one that said it was ok and their course drained very well. that was a FLAT OUT LIE! if i had known this, i would not have woke up early and spent the day in a swamp vs. a somewhat nice day in beautiful SF. now the pro shop attendee was cordial got me out in time. the course was REALLY TERRIBLE. tee boxes were fine since they were usually elevated, lush with little to none divots. the fairways are another story. there was standing water EVERYWHERE. there were LAKES in the middle of some fairways that were low lying. sometimes when you would hit a good drive, and find out your ball landed in one of those lakes. some deep enough that you couldn't find your ball in thigh deep water. sandtraps all had large pools of water. the greens were ok, dry at least with some ballmarks. finished round in 3:15. at that time the sun came out and was warming up. asked if i could play extra holes in light of the conditions and the pro shop basically lying to me. was refused. the course overall was great, had good layout. don't get me wrong, i didn't expect it to be dry after a week of rain but this was ridiculous. and telling me that over the phone after waking up early and driving 1:30 to play. if i had known, would have stayed in SF sightseeing. i would NEVER patron this course again, nor would i recommend it, out of principle. the pro shop FLAT OUT LIED. they had an opportunity to make right by letting me play a few extra holes, they blew it.

Great course. Played on 4/30 with 2- foursomes after our conference was done for the day. The fairways were wide but watch out for the bunkers. Greens were nice too. The cartgirls were always in the area anf the food at the grille was excellent. We'll be back when we're back in Sacramento.

I'm very lucky living 8 minutes away from Wildhawk (now) and finally decided to play a round.

Don't just look at a map or just drive by it, once your off the first tee you'll was smiling all day also , it's a nice course to bring friends and (boss?well maybe...), the cart girls are out for those drinks/snacks or you can phone in lunch and it's brought to you while at play, nice!! the play overall was great, each hole was like playing a new course which impressed me, not just a different direction and length like others I've rounded.

Who can ever be happy paying greens fee's? I played on Friday mid-morning, so it wasn't bad $25 with a member, if the fee is to high, the pleasure does decrease, no matter your standing with the bank.

Played Wildhawk yesterday (10/21/08). It was a blustery day, but I really liked the course. There's nothing too difficult or tricked out about the course, just some well placed bunkers as the primary layout challenges. Yet, I can see how it can be an addicting course. If you don't play it well, you definitely feel like you need to go back and do better. I did not play well.

The condition of the course wasn't great. For one, there don't seem to be many flat level areas on the tee boxes (a lot of sloping and crowned) and they were pretty chewed up. The rough was long enough to be uncomfortable (as it should be), but there were too many overly wet and bare spots in the fairways. Brown grass in the fairway doesn't bother me, but dirt does. The greens were in good condition, not excellent, but not poor either.

Next time I'm in Sacramento, I will play this course again.

I would have rated the greens a 9 or 10, but they had just been aerated. Even so, this didn't affect the experience as much as one might predict. The course is fun to play, fairly wide open, with plentiful bunkering. The rough is deep enough to add a few strokes to your score if you hit wayward shots. The course should provide a good challenge for most golfers.
