Played 11/27/22 Looking to escape the holiday crowded courses, I took a small drive out to Arbuckle. A average size 9 holer in the farmlands. Very much a locals course with the nearest courses a fair ditsance away. Some minor elevation changes and norrowly tree lined can make for some challanging shots. Course was in fair shape. Fairways cut tight with spotty grass coverage. Some areas fine and others not so much. Greens still showed faint signs of the last areation. Were very receptive, bumby and slow. Some green sections have a strong break. Not a course you would go out of your way for, but a fun distraction. I would have to say the $77 for 18 w/ cart is way over priced for the course at this time.

I ended up playing here on Thursday afternoon as I rambled around to some different obscure north state courses. It was pretty empty here and I zipped around. For 9 holes with a cart, it was somewhere in the $20-25 range. I can't remember exactly because it was a long day, but it was acceptable. Would be a fairly easy course to walk and the gas carts here do provide a bumpy ride on these fairways and rough cart paths.

The course was in pretty good overall condition. Tee boxes, fairways and rough were lush with some bad spots here and there. The rough gets a little iffier the further you stray from fairways. The greens were firm and very fast! The bunkers were fine.

This course is kind of a surprise. I've driven through Arbuckle on the freeway so many times over the years I would never think there would be anything remotely interesting given the location. The course actually has some character with some slight changes in undulation, tree-lined fairways and nut/apricot orchards surrounding it. There was an apricot tree on the course itself and the timing was right to pick a few fresh ones for a quick mid-round snack. It's nothing to go out of your way for as it's still a pretty old school little 9-hole track in an isolated area, but it's certainly better than you think it will be.

Played 12/26/13. 11 am pop 3:45 $20 walking. Dry winter conditions prevail. Fairways very dry, dormant and thin. Frost has made what grass is left brittle Grass 50% green, 45% brown, 5% other. Not too bad to hit from, but good ball striking was needed. Greens were in pretty good shape. A little firm and med/fast to fast. They rolled pretty well, but difficult to read speed & break with a huge difference from down hill & up hill putts. The greens have less then average undulating, but because of their slope, they have tremendous breaks. Putting down and across is an adventure !!!! First time playing this 9 hole course. Many holes are typical 'muni' style design. With some interesting ones mixed in. Need to keep aware in the middle of the course for wayward flying balls.
