Where to begin? I’ll start by saying that this was the first time playing this course for both me and my buddy. Whereas the conditions were average (at best) and the course is completely flat (very walkable) it does have some charm! I don’t know why but I really liked this layout. The holes were fun and unique with multiple dog leg variations with holes turning left, right, Par 5 “S” shape, a horse shoe Par 4, some water hazards, including a little lake with sailboats and forced carries over barranca. I don’t know who designed the course but they got creative and did a great job!

As for the conditions, well…. Did I mention it was a great layout! lol, Conditions were all over the place. the greens looked like a gravel pit but surprisingly rolled very smooth at a medium fast pace. I wish I could blame the lack of a birdie on the greens but sadly it was all me in the form of miss reads or just bad putts. The greens held approach shots well. I will say the front nine seemed firmer than the back nine. Most of the greens were single tier with modest slope but there were a few double tiered greens that made it difficult if you were on the wrong level.

Fairways were a bit of a disappointment and easily the weak link of the course. Numerous brown, dead, and thin areas throughout the entire course. Rough was more of just patchy un-mowed grass that with a good lie was a pleasure to hit from and in the dirt sucked!

Bunkers were one or the other. The first two were super nice with a plethora of fluffy sand (albeit not raked from the morning golfers) and then the last two were hard pan dirt.

Tee boxes were level with decent enough coverage.

I don’t know what the POP was as we were talking shop and just enjoying the day. We waited on every tee shot but that was mainly due to my buddy being a long hitter (300 yard drive range).

So the big question is if I’d recommend this track? I guess it all depends on the circumstances. For me, I’ll definitely play it again just because I liked the layout. If you only have one round in the area, there are better options.

Played here this morning. Booked tee time online to get a better rate at $40 with a cart. Teed off a little before 9:00 and was put out as a single behind some groups. Ended up joining the twosome ahead of me and we waited on every shot, finishing in just over 4 hours. Conditions were decent and better than I was expecting after some things I've heard about this course. Still pretty rough around the edges, though. Tee boxes were generally good. Fairways mostly decent, but definitely some muddy/waterlogged spots throughout and some spotty sections here and there. Some of the worst spots marked off as GUR, but I generally had decent lies and we played winter rules with such soft conditions. The rough was much more rough as they definitely have a ground squirrel problem here. Lots of hills and dirt mounds mixed with bare spots and some sections where the grass is very thick and lush. A bit of everything once you get off the fairways here. The greens were soft and rolling okay at somewhat inconsistent speeds ranging from slow to medium. The two bunkers I was in had pretty decent sand (a tad on the thin side). Some others I noticed looked much thinner. Overall, not a bad links-ish layout and the back nine has some character. With the newly remodeled Baylands also nearby, it and Shoreline offer similar style courses. Shoreline felt to me like it is what Baylands would look like in 10 years if they don't keep up the conditions. This course could definitely use some TLC and renovations of its own, but the bones of a good course are there. As it is, it's kind of the value option in an otherwise very overpriced South Bay region.

Played September 3rd. Muni course and well, muni conditions. Fairways were green where it counted but many brown patches make it clearly evident of California's drought. Greens were fine...a little bumpy here and there but good. The rough was easy enough. Tee boxes were fair. Squirrel country as it seems to be baby time for them. They usually come up and beg on the 17th tee. No burrowing owls seen this time. Beers were cold at the bar afterwards.

Played a second round during this Christmas visit to the family in NoCal on 12/26 in the AM. Got a good rate of $42 that included the cart. This course had a little more standing water (from the 4+" of rain last week) than the San Jose Muni which I played on the 24th. Greens: soft with slow to medium speed and a little bumpy. Fairways and rough: mowed but you had to lift, clean and place to a dry area. Traps: they are in the process of rebuilding the traps, over half were GUR but the rebuilt ones were in nice condition. POP: 5 1/2 hours, course was packed. Customer service: nice guys in the Pro Shop and at the #1 tee. Challenge: very challenging course, rolling fairways and local knowledge is a must. There were 6-7 holes with blind tee shots, fortunately I was playing with some locals so that helped. Also, it can be windy and cooler being next to the bay. Lots of large goose dropping as there are 100+ Canadian geese. One left a "present" on my car as he/she flew over, a 9" diameter mess. :-( A must play if you are in the area!

The course has more Canadian Geese than golfers, and there are a lot of golfers too. GOOSE sh$t IS EVERYWHERE! The course played easy with no wind on the front nine, but gets tough when the wind picks up. Can play as two different courses.

The Pace of play was very slow, waiting on most shots when teeing up after 10am on a weekend. The group behind us had a very pissy golfer who thought we were slowing the course down, although we waited too, so he was fun to laugh at. Overall not worth 60.00 bucks if you have to drive out of your way to play there.

First time to play this course. Fair ways not good bare spots all over the place, one of the locals i played with said that they have brought in a new company to take care of course. Got rid of the mud hens by draining the lakes. RTJ design, greens are tough, not a bad play even with the bare spots in the fairways. Very enjoyable day on this course, even with a little wind.

Played here just after a little rain the day before. The course is mostly flat with a one lake on the front and two on the back that come into play on a few holes. The greens were variable with some bare spots, but the ball rolled true. Interesting green designs in that everything didn't slope from back to front, so it took some thought to read. Because I played in the winter, some of the grass in the fairway that appeared to be dead may have just been dormant. There is major construction on the back nine as they are renovating a lake. (I assume it's a renovation because I hadn't played here before.) It got quite windy on the back nine in mid-afternoon. Beware of the OB on both sides of the 18th fairway. I ended up with a triple bogey after I noticed the white stakes when I pushed my first tee shot with a driver. Excellent pace of play (4 hours), but we teed off by ourselves at 12:30 on a Tuesday in February. The real drawback to the course is the ubiquitous goose poop. Nice staff in the pro shop. The two practice greens for chipping are nice features.

I played here on Friday twilight many times. It's a flat course and wind and firm green (and gee craps) are the major challenges. I have difficulty stopping the ball beyond 9 iron. The green is okay but slow. The fairway is so-so and fills up with gee craps and bare spots. Roughs are good. For $25 twilight, I can't complain and in general I have fun with this course.

the course has no coots, but the geese are thick, and the greens show it. while were on the greens too, they were horrible and bumpy. they were soft which was OK, but they were to soft. footprints and bumps everywhere. made putting a nightmare. this was the 1st time I have played here without the wind and it was just hot this time. the course plays a bit different without it too. as it was hot, I rented a cart, and there were 3 in our group. I was last man out and they charge you full rate for a cart 25.00... ouch. for locals they get a better rate and the twilight is good even if you don't live there. if it wasn't for the greens and geese I think this course could be a lot better. OH, on 18 when your walking to your tee shot. if its center or left side, beware. the driving range is there and there's no fence and we had 2 balls all most hit us, and there isn't any FORE, cause they don't know your there. the mgmt really needs to put up a large net to stop this or someone is going to get hit seriously. that it for this time....
