Absolutely beautiful course with hundreds of mature trees and numerous holes running up and down a big ridge. Old school course designed in the 1920's with small greens and not a lot of manufactured design features. Course condition was very good - lush tees, good fairways, and some sticky rough. Greens a bit bumpy - watch for big difference of speed between greens exposed to the sun and those in the shade of the big trees. Staff is friendly and pace of play was outstanding. Extensive practice areas for putting and chipping and double-deck driving range with a heater in every bay (great for practicing during the cooler offseason). Green fees very reasonable ($52 for Senior Green Fee and Cart weekday). This was first time playing this course but will defintely come back again in the future.

Walked the blues (68.8/123/6157) in 3h, 45m on a Sunday afternoon Golf Now rate of $22. Glendoveer is an older, shorter course in NE Portland that gets a ton of play, many of which are novice or high handicap golfers. Unique layout, par 73 with five par 5's and four par 3's. I like the layout, it's fun. A couple of par 4's that are potentially driveable for longer hitters. The fairways are tree lined with huge mature trees. A decent assortment of open, tight and a couple of very tight holes. Not that many water hazards or OB holes, but plenty of places in the trees to lose a ball if you get crooked. Considering that it's in the city, there were almost NO houses visible along the course, and there is a walking/running trail that loops around the outer edge of the course. While the layout was fun, the course conditions were not fun. The greens were soft, a bit bumpy, slow & I averaged fixing about a half dozen ball marks per green, and that was just just around my ball or in my line. I never did get their speed down. The tees were in fair shape & many had severe divot damage that needed repair. The fairways were at best fair, many of them had alot of divot damage. There were numerous places in many fairways that looked like they had inserted "plugs" of grass to try and regrow the bad browned/hardpan areas, w/o alot of success to this point. The rough was generally mowed down and semi-lush, you usually could make good contact on shots out of the rough. There were also large areas of hardpan under the huge trees that lined both sides of every hole. The sand was very well maintained, and I was in 6 traps total, so I should know. The traps were by far the best maintained part of the course. They have a driving range off mats, clubhouse, pro shop, snack bar and highly rated restaurant on site. Customer service in the pro shop & with the starter was a ++. This course is questionable, and it's in a questionable section of town. Last time I played here, I stopped beforehand at a fast food place about 2 miles away and provided 2 separate witness statements to police during a 45 minute lunch. First, a homeless guy went off in the restaurant & was threatening people. Then just a few minutes after the police left, there was an armed robbery in the parking lot about 20 yards from where I was eating lunch? A recent, out of town GK reviewer rated this course an 8.48 and spoke of country club like conditions? We will just have to agree to disagree, I have played app. 25 courses this summer, and this was the worst conditioned course I have played. I could not recommend this course, there are numerous local courses close by that are better to MUCH better.

An older, shorter tree-lined track in the northeast area of Portland that feels more suburban as very few buildings are in view during the round.

Because it gets a lot of play, tees and fairways show lots of wear and divots abound. Greens are bumpy in places and medium in speed. The sand traps are actually quite good and there is not much water. The very large old trees and some taller rough make staying in the fairway the safest play.

Not a destination course by any means, it is easy to get to and convenient if in that area. The pro shop offerings are very sparse but the staff is friendly. A huge plus is an excellent restaurant and bar on the premises.

Older, shorter course in NE Portland that gets a ton of play. Unique layout, par 73 with five par 5's and four par 3's. The fairways are tree lined with huge mature trees with a decent assortment of open, tight and a couple of very tight holes. Not that many water hazards and OB holes, but plenty of places in the trees to lose a ball if you get crooked. Considering that it's in the city, there were almost NO houses visible along the course.

The rough was generally mowed down and lush, a few areas were higher, but you usually could make good contact on shots out of the rough. The sand was surprisingly good and well maintained in the 2 traps I was in.

They had a clubhouse, pro shop, snack bar and highly rated restaurant on site. $24 to walk twilight on a Sunday was a good value. Customer service in the pro shop was a +. This isn't a course you would drive by a bunch of other courses to come and play, but if in the area, it's OK. I will come back again and check out the other (West) course.
