I'm not paying $40+/doz for balls, so I'm not comparing it to any of those. My ratings are relative to this ~$25-$30/doz category. My main frame of comparison is the HX Hot Bite that I have been happily playing for a while. I usually shoot mid-80's and am a fairly long hitter.
I got my first full 18 in with one of these today at a Muni. Here are my observances.

The Burner TP is plenty long, although it seems just a hair shorter than the Hot Bite. I was able to hit draws and fades off the tee and the TP responded really well and very much in control. Iron shots behaved themselves very well. This ball is plenty workable and feels fantastic while doing it. It as a noticeably softer feel all around than the Hot Bite.

I hit everything from 5 irons to lob wedges into the greens today and when I actually hit the green, the ball did what it was supposed to. No surprise releases and no zipping back off the front of the soft greens. Again, very controllable.

The feel off the putter is really soft and nice. Great feedback.

I made it around on one ball. Despite hitting shots that stopped, and bent and all kinds of stuff, the ball dhad no obvious signs of wear. It is far more durable than the HX Hot Bite.

So somehow TaylorMade has made a ball that is soft, long enough and controllable while still being extremely durable and less than $30/doz. I don't know how they did it, but they did. This is a great, great ball. » Close

...this is the one (so far). I shoot about mid-90's. Straight off the tee. Very nice spin off of the irons & even my hybrids I hit 'em right. Good spin off of the wedges, too. I just realized I write a lot of reviews on golf balls. I used to stick the higher end balls but with the economy the way it is I keep trying to find good balls for less. This is it. The Burner TP's are incredibly long and feel very soft. They are also somewhat responsive to hitting draws and fades. They spin like and upper end ball and barely scuff at all. My new favorite balls are the Taylormade Burner TP and the Bridgestone E6+. I use both according to the course. The Bridgestones, as advertised, are very straight which makes working the ball difficult. I will use these on courses with more hazards so I can stay out of them. I will now use the Burner TP's on courses where working the ball is a little more necessary. They are both $24.99 a dozen and both know how to perform. » Close
