Not a complaint because it made scoring easier, but the greens are unusually slow. We had numerous downhill putts that came up short of the hole. Not the norm here at ANGC. Rest of the course in very good condition with the exception of some inconsistent greenside bunkers. Some extremely thin with small rocks hiding underneath & some perfectly nice.

May 21st. Greens were thin, grainy and running slow. Unusual for ANGC. Rest of the course in good shape. Fairways nice. Lots of sand in the bunkers. Customer service always good.

Played here on Wednesday 2/18 with a 8:40am tee time. It was not crowded at all. We played in under 4 hours. Got a great deal on GN for $40 per player with cart. I have to say that AN has improved since the last time I played here. Tee boxes are fine. The fairways continue to be thin but they are very playable and more green than they have been in the past. They have obviously been watering more. Always had a good lie in the fairway. Greens were running medium in the damp morning but got very quick as the day progressed. They were smooth and very nice. The two bunkers I was in had very good sand. If you like playing AN this is a good time to play it. Especially if you can get a reduced rate like I did. I had never used the practice area in the morning here. Usually the grass practice area is all chewed up and mostly dirt. But at 8am it was fantastic.

Played the course today as a Birthday round, teeing off at 10:40 with a twosome from NY. Paid 15.00 for the cart and 10.00 for a bucket of 70 balls. Clubhouse is quite good with anything you may want, food prices are over charged for the quality of taste.
Found the course to be quite uninspiring, and rather dull with just average enjoyment. Best part here at least for me was the great views of the local mountain range. Greens are large with many breaks both easy and hard to read. Condition of the greens was just average, with many ball marks left improperly repaired or not repaired at all. Greens on this day were rolling a 12 so speed was fun and keeping the ball below the hole was critical to success in putting. (Fairways were thin and very dry no doubt from the lack of rain) and in places difficult to hit from. Rough was clumpy and sporadic at best often allowing good shots to run through fairways. Found the bunkers to be quite good, fluffy sand and well maintained, from morning grooming and raked properly from other players. Average depth was good at 3-4 inches and had a good solid base. Tee boxes were thin and had several areas of unpaired divots.
For me this course was nothing to write home about, nothing that really catches your eye or makes you stop for a second look. Several holes are just nothing more than something to get through and move on. The biggest challenge here is to make sure your under the pin or on the right level as many greens have multiple tiers. If you want to play it for your b-day its ok but knowing what I know now I would rather go somewhere else and play, wouldn't pay the regular rack here, and the course is probably a one and done play for me.

Ben Krug and Kurt in the shop were extremely helpful. You have to play this course a few times to learn the undulations of the greens which some holes are huge. the layout of fairways are great but the greens will test your game. Worth playing .

I played Angeles National for the 2nd year in a row on my birthday. This year I did have to pay $15 but it was well worth the drive and the $. We were racing the rain and got off to a rough start as i goofed up the reservation day. The staff was very helpful and got us off within 15 min of our desired time. We started on 10 as the 9s were reversed for the day. The fairways were dormant but dry and running fast. The greens were as always fast and firm but rolling very true. With the wind and the rain it was a tough day but as always alot of fun.
Despite being between 2 groups we were able to get in all 18 is just under 4 hrs, Fortunately for us the rain didn't start until we were putting on the 18th. A great day and a great course.

Got out on Wednesday, 11/6 at noon. Got a nice "Hot Deal" on Golf Now for $47.00, including cart. No wind to speak of. Perfect golfing weather. The greens are the best part of this course. They are fast, undulating and will hold a good shot. The tee boxes were over seeded a while ago. They were quite long and still need a while to grow in. If you wanted to tee it up high you needed to find a flattened spot. Otherwise the grass was too high. The fairways are hard pan, with several varieties of grasses springing up all over the course. The fairways are about the condition of typical muni. You get a lot of roll. This is good and bad. Good if you hit down the middle and needed more distance. Bad if you hit it near the edges of the fairway. Since there is no rough at this course, just the nature areas, your ball would roll and roll out of the fairway and into the natural areas. They've added wood chips to many of the areas bordering the course. The green side bunkers had good sand in them. The course is playable and a real challenge. But with the overall conditions being only fair, I would never pay the rack rate for this course.

Squeezed in a birthday treat round here wed am as this place is on the way to work and I was playing half-day hookie. They run a 60 buck special wed w cart and I would say that is acceptable for how the course is. Greens are the highlight although they show signs of a light top dressing in the last few weeks and ran a tad slow. But good grass coverage and minimal ballmark damage and mainly smooth 8.5.

Rest of the course is dry as per usual. Fairways are mainly thin and mostly yellow with hard pan underneath. Sure you get plenty of run out but that's not necessarily a good thing on this type of course 6.5

Rough is pretty much non existent even around the greens where a few holes showed signs of maintenance and some fringes were also punched. Just dry and thin and hard - not easy to chip from if you didn't nip it. 7.0.

Tees fine and level 9.5. Sand good and fluffy 9.5. Customer service fine. Was probably about a 4.5 round although I had to quit at 16.

Main thing, in my opinion, were some changes that appear to be water (economic) related. Most every hole (some extensively) have mulching/wood chip areas along the sides of the fairway. Makes you feel that you are golfing thru a landscaped garden at times. The scorecard even makes mention of this and informs the golfer that mulched areas are a free drop no closer to hole. I don't recall if these areas were natural habitat or just rough before, but it's not like any other feature I've seen on a golf course. I think they are going for classic 'pine straw' areas but it doesn't really work IMO. I suspect it's a water conservation issue that cuts down on maintainable real estate and water-needy areas.

Very nice course with a great practice area. Good and challenging layout. Pretty flat with minimal elevation changes. Tee boxes were lush, flat, and undamaged. Bunkers were consistent and had plenty of sand. The fairways were recently punched with good size holes that impacted lies. They were also VERY dry with some hardpan ares. A good drive will roll and go a long way on these firm fairways. Greens were close to immaculate. They were smooth, undamaged, and everything rolled true. Service was top notch. The starter was friendly and the cart girl came around at least couple of times per 9.
