This is a typical Jack Nicklaus overpriced, underwhelming golf course. It's too tough for high handicappers who spend lots of time trying to find their lost balls, which slows things down if you dare try to play it on a weekend. Comapared to other courses within a reasonable drive (say, 45mins- an hour) it comes up woefully short. Jack designs very tough golf courses, and the staff does not require anyone to play from the correct tees, which for most golfers who aren't delusional...are not the back or the way-back tees. Of course, most golfers want to see "all" the course, and what they wind up seeing is "all" of the waste areas.
I have played this course about 5 times. Every time I have gone, there was another price increase...until I just walked away when they tried to charge "Holiday" rates a couple of days after New Years (not a weekend). There is no way this course can ever be worth $120 to play it when Sandpiper is that price, and Industry Hills, Lost Canyons, and Robinson Ranch all cost less. It isn't sour grapes...I shot a 78 there last time. I just don't get this course or why people rave about it.

Course in great shape. Greens rolling fast and true. Fairways, greens, t boxes all in good shape. Bunkers are a little hard. Pace was good for a Saturday/holiday weekend.

Played on Saturday, Feb. 9th. Paired with a fun father & son and had a wonderful time. A little slower than usual, but that had mostly to do with the hacker group in front of us. Course is in fabulous condition, save the rock hard bunkers with the confusing occasional soft spot. Driving range needs to move, as many stations allowed only to practice your hard-pan and dirt play. Great service, great round. If cost is a concern, twilight starts earlier than most courses (12:30pm)

I found the course to be in its usual excellent condition. Greens were not running as fast as I remember...which is a good thing...but fast enough and very smooth. Fairways were mostly lush and firm. Rough was mostly lush yet thin at times (1 to 1 1/2 inch high). Sand Traps were on the firm side but well kept. Tee boxes in great shape. Our pace of play was 4 1/2 hours.

Something I certainly noticed and liked was the on course service. I saw ball spotters on a couple holes and these people always politely asked how we were doing. They were keeping the pace of play moving more so by assisting rather then reprimanding. At the end of the round, the cart guys did not jump on our clubs to start cleaning them, but rather asked us first if we would like them cleaned. Nice! I can't stand when they jump on the clubs and start cleaning them and the next thing you know you're feeling pressured to tip...which I always tip anyway :) Oh - we also saw the cart girl 4 times. This is they kind of service I like to see at a highend golf course.

Shot an 85 today which I was pleased with. The course is very tight and the greens very challenging. Looking forward to my next round there.

Played 12/15/07. Course was in great condition considering the cold snap. This is a fair course for those familiar with it. It is tough, however, and not for higher handicaps (as I learned!) If your ball is not in play, it will be lost...as will your game. I will return as my game improves and look forward to my birthday when I can play for free. Otherwise, this track is overpriced compared to other quality courses.

gave out some bad reviews on some areas of the golf course, but all in all it is a fun course to play. wish everybody would fix there darn divots and pitch marks.

i have played this course numerous times. all in all, great golf course. maintanance crew does a superb job. too bad golf course was built in a wash. too many "boulders" in some of the bunkers. "natural habitat" issues are a problem. hit one errant tee shot, forget about it. you try and go and retrieve it, marshalls on your booty telling you to get out. then you see the same guy in the habitat looking for balls. late afternoons are the worst. no marshalling going on, but i guess its easter at angeles everyday in the late afternoons. mornings arent bad, strong crew opening crew. now these guys are marshalls. usually will finish a round in less than 4 hours. i do see guys in the habitat in the morning as well, but they know when to stop searching when play starts to get heavy.

from tee to green, i give it a b+. its not mostly the courses fault. i would have given it an a but no one fixes there divots on the fairways. pitch marks galore on the greens. especially on the 3 pars. how hard is it to take out a divot tool or tee and fix the darn thing. only takes 3 seconds!!! they really have to do something about the rocks in the bunkers. someone will really hurt themselves one of these days.

Very challenging. Most holes are fair. Condition always good. First rate course - one of the best of publicly-available courses in LA area, but it isn't for 20 handicappers or worse. Single digit handicaps and low double digit handicaps are best off here. Barbeque food at the turn is great. Pricey course - $110 + on weekends. Holes could be a bit more memorable for this price.
