Played here on 12/10 for $60. Never played here before so I went in with an open mind and a clear nose. I did not get the bad smell referred by the previous reviewer but I could certainly see where it would have come from. The polluted water catch basin was not a pleasant sight. The golf course was very muni-like in appearance, conditions, and overall experience. We had a nice day but will be using our money to play elsewhere in the future. Most of the greens ran true and were medium speed but many had a fungus problem. Fairways and rough were patchy but the tee boxes were level and nice. Brushed up against some poison oak on my ankle so am dealing with that right now!

Member For A Day... don't waste your money. The course layout is okay but a bit short which it makes up for all the trees plus the greens seem on the smaller side. There is a creek that runs through out the course and the stench from it brutal, it smells like raw sewage and you can only imagine how bad it can get on hot day... "gag a maggot" comes to mind.
We were a foursome... they put out 2 twosomes in front of us and as we were about to tee off the starter personally came out with another twosome to send out in front of us, membership does have it's privileges... now at some the first 2 twosomes became a foursome, fair enough. Behind us they sent off a a twosome of two women that were playing out of one bag... they must have sent out a single after them. At the turn the single played through the twosome behind us but didn't want to play through us because the said the twosome in front wasn't going anywhere so he was struck. Why a starter would send off so many twosomes and a single makes no sense but it is a private course.
Their dress code is that men must tuck in their shirts, women can be dressed exactly the same but don't have to adhere to the rule, only men. We had just walked into the pro shop and checked in, immediately the starter asked us to tuck in our shirts which was fine, I made a comment that "it's going to be a tight fit" with my few extra pounds (I'm 25 lbs overweight)... his reply was "there's the parking lot". I felt that it was a rude comment but I let it go because we had prepaid for the "Member For A Day" but under normal circumstances I might have just left. I don't have a problem with the rule of tucking in the shirts but don't treat me like a second class citizen because I'm not a true member at a private course. With your "Member For A Day" you get a coupon for two pints of draft beer for the price of one... sound good but a pint is $6.50 so after two beers it's get a bit expensive, especially for draft, IMHO.
The actual cost for the "Member For A Day" round is not any more than most of your local public courses but you don't get what a true member gets so you're just a fill for a course that needs more business. There are many "Member For A Day" with courses like Los Coyotes Country Club that give you excellent service and treat you like a member or close to it, there you will get treated with the respect that everyone deserves. So if you're looking for "Member For A Day" then definitely look around for something other than Candlewood Country Club because you're not missing out on anything special.
Final thought... if you don't mind the smell of raw sewage and you can get a super deal then maybe give it try but remember I warned you about the smell.

Played in a LA Seniors outing this AM. Excellent customer service. Greens: soft, smooth, holding and extremely fast down hill. Most are raised so take a little more club. Fairways: not a bad lie all day and mostly tree lined, very narrow. Rough: 1 to 3" high, not very penal. Traps: plenty of sand. Tee boxes: a few are drying out but OK to play. POP: just over 4 hours, not bad for a seniors outing. A very challenging course with rolling hills. Also, one very aggressive squirrel, he took my apple from my food container that we got at the turn.
