Not a bad course, but not a terrific one either. It's wide open and straight, but better players can make it challenging. It's a driver-wedge course for anyone who can hit 290 or better. Driver placement can be required for better players to have a good approach shot, but not essential. The greens are soft enough to hold your shot. The walking twilight rate ($18) is as much as I want to pay for this course. Anything more than that and I'll play elsewhere. Overall, it's a nice for the beginner, for those who'd like a boost of confidence, and for those who don't want to wait for a tee time.

Willowick is a nice starter course with good greens. Be prepared to wait for 2 groups on hole 2. However, once you get past hole 3, the pace becomes better. The course is short and the fairways are open. It's essentially a driver-wedge course for anyone who can hit the ball over 300. The bunkers are ridiculous (huge lips, protect half the green, but pretty gritty sand) which makes the drive placement fairly important, but the greens are soft enough to hold your shot (so placement isn't essential). I usually walk at twilight (starting at 2) and pay $18. It's the only way I can justify playing this course. Overall, it's a good course for beginners, those needing a boost of confidence, and those who don't want to wait for a tee time.

We had a coupon... $36 for a round with a cart plus a hot dog and soda (weekend after 11:30); normal weekend rate is $49 w/cart, so this was really cheap. The tee boxes and fairways could use some maintenance. As for the greens... I was very surprised at the condition of them... excellent shape... as good, if not better than many of the local courses. I don't care what course I play but one of the key things that I want are good greens. I can adjust for "chewed up" fairways... we'll just bump the ball. As for sand... I would like decent sand but I don't get much sand play so it's really not an issure for me. I know that they're going to be aerating in May but after the greens have healed I'd play there again... especially with a coupon.

I have never in 26 years of golf seen a group 2 to 3 holes behind for most of the round. The marshall was useless. Just because you are an older golfer(s) does NOT mean you have the right to hold everybody else up behind you! No matter what your age playing so slow like those 5 did is simply rude. Now that that is off my chest the greens today were the best I have ever seen them at this course.

Played 4/4 for twilight rate of $24. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere makes the Wick low key. The greens were in excellent condition, rolled true, and few ballmarks. Finally golfers that repair their ball marks - many thanks. If you want inexpense OC golf, a course where lost balls are rare, and need to restore your confidence - try the Wick.

Played 3/29. Walked on as a two some. Got to the course around 6:15 am and i thought maybe we would have to wait a long time to get on. We teed off by 7:05 after hitting some golf balls. Not a very long course but will test your skills. Tees where in good and I would give the traps a 8. Best thing about this course is its greens rolled true and fast. Older course but a fun lay out. Will play again.

Played 2/5/09 with the birdy card from Roger Dunn - great deal ($23 w/cart!!). Tried to beat the rain, but the course played really slow (unusual for a Thurs), got to 16 and got rained out. Nothing to challenging here, flat and benign. Course is pretty good shape considering the traffic it gets.
