Again teed off at the crack of dawn to both stay ahead of maintenance and beat the heat. The North will be closed all next week to punch greens, level some tee boxes and also prepare to make two new tee boxes on #4 for the women and #15 to provide a new angle to the green. Should be completed in 4-6 weeks.

Course in very nice condition right now. Green speeds however seem to vary from hole to hole? Still need to do some improvements to the greenside bunkers. (sand is too compacted considering the depth of the bunkers)

Both courses have been prepared for the "Windmill Classic" so conditions are very good right now. I was concerned the greens would be too fast because I understood thy were going to double cut and roll them, but probably because I was out so early (In front of maintenance), they were still reasonable. If the greens are too fast on the North course, they become un-puttable

Since courses were officially "closed" due to the tournament, I had to hump it to finish an avoid maintenance and the shotgun

Fairways on the north continue to improve. The course was completely re-sodded two years ago, and just now are the fairways beginning to "smooth out". Greens are very good, maybe a little too firm for my taste. Greenside bunkers continue to be an issue. They need to "churn" them up so you can get under the ball.

Because of the limited rain, very little if any rough to speak of. Course is playing as easy as I can remember right now

Weather was near perfect and for whatever reason, the courses were not at all crowded, so decided to play 36. Because I was out before maintenance, the greens had not yet been cut, so were slower than normal, but rolled well. Fairways were really wet, a lot of water put on the course overnight!

As usual, out early and was surprised that nobody else was there? I had an opportunity to chat with the assistant super on #2 green who was checking green speeds. At 6:20 in the morning they were running 12.5 ! That's just way too fast for the North course with all the undulations. I'm certain that once they dried out later in the day, they probably ran 13+. That's just silly on these greens. On the South course, OK, but not the North.

With the recent rains and fertilizer, course looking much better. Now if they would only focus on the greenside bunkers, everything would be fine. Great weather, no crowds, but still played lousy - go figure!

It's incredible how quickly a golf course can change. I played at first light on Sunday, beginning the round in a light drizzle. By the time I got to #8 it was raining fairly steady. Within a couple of holes it was pouring and coming in sideways. The greens were starting to puddle and there were wet spots in the fairways. By the time I finished, there were streams of water running down the fairways, the bunkers were flooded, many of the greens were flooded. Almost unplayable! Played again on Tuesday and everything was totally dry, with the exception of a few wet spots in some of the bunkers. You couldn't even tell it rained. Needless to say the course was green. Obviously it was easier to play Tuesday, but is was kind of fun to struggle in the rain. Funny thing is I shot better in the bad weather than in the good. Strange game ???

First round back after the greens were punched. I was surprised just how well they rolled. I've noticed they have been rolling the greens in addition to cutting. While there is still some residual sand on the greens, and they are slower than normal, they were much better than expected. The rest of the course is in nice shape with the exception of areas of the rough, which I am told will be addressed soon.

Since everyone else is playing the South course, being afraid of the greens, the North was rather empty. Next week they close the South, so everything will flip flop.

Finally, after three straight days of frost delay, was able to get out early as usual. (Thanks in part to the overnight winds) Empty, because I think everyone else thought there might be frost again... Continue »

Greens are rolling really well, which means that the North course will course next week to punch them. (Isn't that the way it always is?) Fairways have "greened up" thanks to the recent rain, but still dry. Bunkers improving, but have a ways to go.

After the heavy rains on Tuesday, received an e-mail from the course that the South course will remain closed until further notice, but the North would be open, cart part only. (Which does not affect me since I always walk) Forecast was again for heavy rain, but just like on Tuesday, it wasn't raining when at 6am, so decided to give it a shot. What a difference a day, and about 2 inches of rain, makes. Many bunkers filled with water, fairways were soaked. Zero people there! Maintenance could not even cut greens because they were too wet.

Beautiful morning to stroll around the course with only the critters to keep me company. I guess because of the CPO and forecast, everyone stayed home? Greens were a little slower than normal, but that's OK. Some casual water in the fairways, and since I did not find any bunkers, the fact they were under water never factored in.

Able to beat the rain so far. I suspect my luck will run out soon. But hey, at least I can play, which was better than last week with all the frost.
