Second round of the day was here. We ate lunch in the Member Grille Room, which was tasty and you can tell this is a really, really social club as everyone was very friendly and chummy with one another. It was pouring rain outside when we arrived, so this was the place to be until it cleared. We teed off as a foursome around 12:45 and finished 18 by 4:30. We were all feeling good and having fun, so we played the front nine again and still had plenty of daylight left!

The course was in good overall condition. Tee boxes good. The Fairways were nice bermuda and consistently good to hit from. The rough was a bit more chunky and dried out. Sometimes the ball would sink down and other times it would perch up nicely. The bunkers were excellent. The greens still show some signs of recent aeration. Rolling at medium speeds and a little bumpy, but should be exceptional in another couple of weeks.

This is a solid overall course. The layout won't blow you away. When you look at it on Google, you can see a ton of water hazards on the course, but they really only come into play on a handful of the best holes. A lot of it is just aesthetics. Otherwise, it's a pretty forgiving and friendly country club layout that reminded me at times of more of a Florida style course. The trickiest part of the design is the massive greens with a lot of tricky slopes and undulations (Ted Robinson, of course), so that's where Old Ranch is most interesting. Good course. Great club atmosphere. Really glad I got to play it and get a taste of the good life, especially on a weekend!
