One of my favorite local courses. Great design with different visuals on each hole. A few holes with water that come in play. Both 9 and 18 have water so it makes a fun and adventurous experience coming back into the clubhouse.

Conditions were decent. Tee ground are lush and level. Fairways with good coverage. Greens were medium fast and holds most shots. Noticing a few unrepaired ball marks lately.

They recently transitioned from using pool noodles to the lever-type for retrieving your balls from the cup due to the COVID precautions. Much more enjoyable experience in my opinion.

Overall, great golf and fun times.

Even though they allow fivesomes it never plays in more than four hours. Is there any public course in the area that plays in four hours or less unless you are on Dawn Partrol? If there is please email me.

Great place to play in the area. Didn't want to write a review about how good it is because then maybe more people would play it but don't want to get kicked off the Guru list.

Played the Navy Course many times just down the street and I don't know really what to say about the difference. How about night and day.

We played here today and last review writer was spot on. Great layout, really fun to play, the greens were great and the course was soggy. We wish we we behind his group though, the groups in front of us were slow and we finished in just over 5 hours....oh well I could be at work or stuck in traffic so with carts allowed on the cart paths only I was okay with it. A real fun day and I look forward to returning to Old Ranch. Not a great ball striking day so want to have another crack at this place!

Played today in an SCGA event. Course was packed. 72 players for a shotgun and CPO. Thought I was in for a long day. But we ended up playing in 4.5 H. Course was still wet as you can imagine, from the rains. But it was not muddy/sloppy, so it obviously drains well. Played it as it laid on some holes some holes LCP. Tee boxes were all playable. Rough was wet/sticky but fairways were wide/soft, so did not see much of the rough. Lots of water, but compared to some Robinson courses were water is much more penal, this course was not that way. Able to navigate all water successfully. Not in any traps (thank you) and heard no complaints for those that did and they were all clean/playable. Greens were just great. Large and plenty of undulations, but you needed to be in the right areas with your approach shots. Greens held shots, chipped/putted nicely and had some good speed to them. Very nice layout and design. Would not hesitate to recommend and certainly would play here again (minus the wet conditions) if offered the opportunity. # 9 and # 18 are two very great holes with the use of water in their design.

Played here on 5/11. Fun track in Seal Beach but the conditions were really bad. Not what you would expect from any private club or public course charging 100+ per round (which is what they charge guests). Practice facility is pretty basic with a range and nice putting green. Layout reminds me of Oak Creek but the conditions unfortunately weren't there.

Tees: The most consistent part of the day. Level and well groomed, still greenish/brown though.
Fairways: A bit thin in places but overall pretty good to good. Also still brown/greenish. I get it was a dry year but come on you are a CC. They had spray painted in places which was laughable.
Rough: Similar to places like el do and big rec. Patchy ranging from 1.5-3 inches. Nothing too penal.
Bunkers: Was in one, had perfect coverage and depth.
Greens: Awfully slow. I get that they just aerated a week or two before but they we're some of the slowest I've played recently. Took me 4-5 holes to adjust to the pace. El Do also recently punched and there's are noticeably faster (albeit it bumpier as well). Just a big pet peeve of mine when CC's have bad greens. They were very true however, just went about 1/2 to 1/4 the distance you would normally hit.

Overall I would hesitate to play again for 100 bucks. Would rather just go play Oak Creek. I wanted to like it so bad it just felt like a waste of money. Important note if you do decide to play; it is a cash only facility for guests so stop at the bank first.

Played here yesterday in a SCGA outing teeing off at 10am. I played here years ago but did not remember much about it. One thing for sure though, i had no idea there was that much water on this course which was a pleasant surprise. The course from the tips is one tough customer which is why we chose to play the gold tees. The weather was perfect so conditions were made for scoring. The lay out is super fun and there were many risk reward holes which i love. Cost was reasonable at $75pp and i would definitely play here again. The conditions were very good for the most part however the greens were to slow(8.5 on the meter). They rolled true and smooth but many putts came up short. Everything else on the course was well above average and the service was excellent. definitely recommended....

Was invited out again by my brother in law today 9/25/2017 at 11am for a scramble shotgun tournament run by the Gardena/Carson YMCA. Was joined by Pedro, Brandon and Andrew-awesome group to play with. Our POP was 5 hours enjoying our day on this private track not being pushed nor pushing anyone. Weather was sunny, breezy and 80 degrees--great golf weather. Enjoyed the day shooting a 60 as a team--4th place out of 29 teams--winning score was a 53(head scratcher and eyebrows raised).

The Old Ranch course has a beautiful clubhouse with ample restaurant space and we enjoyed breakfast, a box lunch before the round and nice sit down dinner afterwards. Range was big using AstroTurf. They had a nice putting green and a separate chipping area next to the range. Staff and servers were friendly. Carts did not provide GPS but were nice.

2nd time here in the last 6 months and the conditions were even in better shape this time out.

The greens were in very nice shape--just a shade of topdressing showing but did not effect speed of putts as the greens were lightening fast for the way they looked. Holding irons very nicely with spin and height. I thought they were the highlight of the course. Rated 8/10.

The fairways were lusher this time around--would call them lush to semi lush with some green and brown spots mixed in but mostly green. Very nice lies. Rated 7.5/10.

The tees were lush, green and were mostly all level. Tees were soft and your feet could sink down some on some tees. Most of the par 3 tees had all there divots filled in. Rated 7.5/10

Was in one bunker that contained nicely raked beach sand in good shape.

The rough was tough. It was not that long but it was Bermuda and your ball could sit down just an inch to an inch and a half and cause problems with chipping and full shots. Rated 8/10.

This course will not blow you away but I think it has a nice mix of doglegs, straight away holes, water features, traps, mounds and OB to keep it interesting and semi-challenging.

We got a interesting experience today with some Blue Angel planes taking off and practicing at the nearby airport/airbase literally right above our head--scared the living daylights out of us--very cool felt like we had the best seat at an airshow.

Would recommend this private course to any golfer .

I played here with a member and really wanted to like it but it was tough in strange ways. Here is what I mean if you missed the green but were pin high and were not in a trap the course has this strange deeeep carpet of grass you cant chip out of, next there were flower beds everywhere so ball that should be found and played were lost next if you missed the fairway on your drive you were more often than not in dirt nice dirt but still dirt . Look I played like crap I shop a legit 89 from the gold tees so roughly 6300 yards. To me the course was made up of long par 3s and 4s and short par 5s this makes it tough on short hitters . I bet if I played it from the white tees I would enjoy it more so go if you can but move up if your drives are under 230 you will have a much better time than i did !

Was invited out by my brother in law today 4/24/2017 at 12 noon for a scramble shotgun tournament run by the local Kiwanis Club starting at 12 noon also joined by Brandon and Andrew. Our POP was 4 hours 45 minutes enjoying our day on this private track not being pushed nor pushing anyone. Weather was partly cloudy, breezy and in the low 70's.

I don't get out this way much to play golf because of the traffic but this was a nice invite and a chance to spend the day with my brother in law.

This course was in above average shape with a nice mix of a couple tree line tighter driving holes, some open driving holes, mid length par 3's, some water that only really comes into play on #6, #9 and #18 I believe. Nice mix of greenside and fairway bunkers. This course does not jump out at me as a course I would necessarily join if I had an opportunity to join a private club but for sure a fun, semi-challenging option.

The greens were semi-undulating and in decent shape. There was an ample amount of sand on them and they maybe were punched 2-3 weeks ago as a guess. Considering the amount of sand on them I thought they were still rolling pretty pure and were quick. Chips and irons were holding like darts due to the sand. I am rating them a 7/10 but without the sand on them I can see them being in the 8 range in a couple of weeks.

The tees were mostly all level and were nice and lush. Rated 8/10.

The fairways for a private course I felt were a little more brownish then they should have been. Had some big drives with a lot of roll out. Don't get me wrong the lies were good I was just assuming they were going to be a little greener and lush to the naked eye. Rated 7/10.

Was in one greenside bunker and one fairway bunker. They have some nice thick deeper beach sand here that must be thumped. The bunkers were raked and in good shape. Rated 8/10.

The rough was 1-2 inches and was not to penal in most areas. Rated 7.5/10.

Our group had a very fun time--I would return again in a heartbeat. Recommended.
