Played on 5/6. Tee Boxes were flat - no problems finding a place to tee up. Fairways were in good condition. Rough was hit and miss with grass and hard pan. Greens were a little slow and grainy, but rolled true. In one bunker and the sand was dark but fair. Overall conditions were better than I expected. This course is a pretty straight forward flat course without a lot of danger. The real protection is the wind.

Played 3-29-15 twilight for $33 including cart. Nobody on the course in front of me until 14 where it came to a dead stop. So I went back and played 12 and 13 again until 14 opened up and then back again until 15 opened and so on. Ended up playing 29 holes in a little under 3 hours. Course was in descent muni shape. Tees, fairways, and rough all a little thin but OK to play from. Sand traps were a little crusty but good underneath. Greens were a little bumpy and slow but not to bad. Basically a flat tree lined course not to exciting but for options in the area I would put it at the top of the list. Pro shop guy real nice and friendly.

Second round of the day was here. Real easy to take care of my Imperial County list with only two regulation 18-hole tracks here. I got there a little before 10:00. There were people out there, but not too busy. I paid $52 with cart, so that felt a little steep for this place. I played through one group on the front and then cruised until about the 14th hole when I hit a wall and joined with a single ahead of me. I think the last 5 holes took almost as long to play as the first 13, but I still finished in a little over two hours, so that was nice.

The course was in pretty decent shape. A few tee boxes a little too shaggy, but manageable. The fairways were very dried out and brown, but were cut consistently and I generally had good lies. Rough also cut level and easy to hit from. Bunkers good enough. The greens were very firm and rolling at medium speeds, but in good overall shape except for the 17th which is clearly having some issues. It's clear they've been doing some work on this course and a few areas still look a bit "under construction," but it looks to be heading in a nice direction. The new tee box signs (big carved flat-faced stones) look sharp.

I had absolutely no idea what to expect from this course because I couldn't find many pictures online. The only picture on their website is a stock photo that is obviously not Del Rio because it looks like it's some beautiful course in the Carolinas or Georgia (false advertising???). I turned out to enjoy this course more than I would have expected. It's nothing too exciting, though, so not worth going too far out of the way for. Mostly flat and tree-lined with a pretty traditional layout. The best hole here is the par-3 10th which looks nicer and different than any other hole on the course with a slight elevation drop from tee to green. They only have two sets of tees (men and women), so it is what it is.
