The Upland hometown is a little misleading, as I am a native of San Diego and grew up in Point Loma. I haven't played here since the change to a city course, but I will as it was where I played my first round of golf, some years ago. Played as an adult with my grandfather who was a retired Marine Officer, so I have plenty of found memories and it really was a fun track to practice your short game on.

Great location close to downtown, Mission Bay, Pt. Loma. Pretty little spot in good condition, great for practicing short-game, as noted by earlier commenter (go during mid-week, hit several balls per hole). Very nice practice putting green that allows short chipping as well ($2 to use). Interesting, state-of-art net driving range stalls, good for working on swing mechanics (no long flight of ball to follow). Great little bar/restaurant, and nearby are coffee places/stores, all on historic Naval Training Center property that is being restored beautifully. Sam Snead managed it during WWII, Phil and Tiger (I think) played tournaments here as kids - a very cool and unique place.
