There are flying bugs everywhere! Most I have seen at any course in San Diego County.

The starter will not get you going on your round...but also offer bug repellant...kid you not. The roving marshall will not only offer water....but repellant. When you are swinging...they will buzz your ear and try to enter your nose. I believe I also ate a few accidently.

If the bugs don't get you....there is also a smell coming from the creekbed.

Does anyone know which months this occurs? I have heard that this has been a past issue.

When i called to make a tee time i specifically asked if there where ant tournaments for this day and they said no. Right about when evrybody started to complain there it was a womans tourny%$#@%^^&***. So we start the day off ok course is pretty haggard but thats what you get while you use a coupon and golf this course. greens were pretty good other than that 5 hours of pretty boring golf. I will never take another divot from this course i will leave it to the ladies in pink

Played 4-26 and it was slow.. Tee time was 10:15 and it took a little over 5 hours to play. Greens were ok, but after playing the scga course the week before they seemed slow. Playing it for the first time it was a challenge. Would go back again just to play some the tricky par 4s again.

Played here Sat 3/8. Customer service was very friendly and helpful throughout the day. Our group started slightly behind our tee time but the pace of play was good (4.5 hours) for the area. Saw cart girl and "course ambassador" multiple times. Unique layout with many holes utilizing large elevation changes. Overall course conditions were great. Fairways in good condition. Greens were smooth and in great condition. Would definitely play here again!

Since this course has had some problems with fairway and (to a lesser extent) greens condition, I was pleasantly surprised with the lush and beautiful appearance of The Vineyard of Escondido today. Fairways were cut "in" more than normal, giving the course a tournament look. The rough was fairly even in length and the greens putted beautifully. Some coupon and on-line deals are to be had, so I recommend you play here before the end of this month's aeration event. Pace of play was moderate: 4 1/2 hours.

The wildfires made it to the middle of the back 9, many houses bordering the course burned....but course did not get burned.

I played here on 6-24-07. The course is in pretty good shape at the moment. The greens ran smoothly, the tee boxes were in good shape and the fairways were decent but certainly not lush (no surprise there, nearly every course in SD has this problem at the moment). As for the layout, the first 3 holes are not easy and the course can beat you up before you have warmed up. No. 1 is a very narrow tee shot, it is wise to consider hitting something other than driver here, a poor drive will not be found and you'll be on your way to a certain bogey, probably a double, just get the ball in play, even if you have a longer approach. No. 2 is a real strategy hole, it's not long but requires and accurate iron or fairway wood setting up an approach across a large pond. As for the rest of the course, the par 3's aren't overly long but they all require forced carries, so check your ego at the door and make sure you hit a club that will reach the middle/back of the green. There are only two par 5's on the course, with a good drive both are very reachable. The only negative here was the state of the bunkers, everyone in our 4some hit out of at least one and all of them were rock hard with very little sand, it was a lottery as to how the ball came out, the course staff need to fix this ASAP, it should be easy - just add more sand! Hope this helps.
