Excellent conditions. Three 9s are all different - hard, harder and hardest. Ridgeline really doesn't have a simple hole. Only saving feature is that a few holes are relatively short so you can keep the ball in play with an iron off the tee. Many of the par 3s have huge drops so distance control is difficult. When I played this week the winds were blowing at 40 mph and that made the course just too difficult.

Make sure that you go to the course via Moorpark Ave and turn left onto Championship after you leave downtown. Grimes canyon is closed and there isn't any signs to direct you the correct way. If you follow the directions at the click4teetimes.com website you will waste 30 minutes driving around.

Moorpark's in great shape. Greens are pretty quick and firm but receptive, the fairways are immaculate, and the rough is not high, but it still offers a real challenge. Fairways right now are quite lush, and although the bunkers still need a bit of time and attention to finish recovering from all the rain, they're still in good condition.

Very good conditions as well as views. This golf course is very challenging no matter which tees you play from. Any combination of nines is a treat and perhaps it is better to play all 27 holes in one day if you are playing for the first time. Customer service is good and well worth the green fee. Just a note, Grimes Canyon Rd is closed now so the other way is to go by Moorpark Ave.

Played Ridgeline and Creekside. What a cow pasture! The fairways hadn't been mowed and it was like playing out of the rough. $90 to play and then they put the arm on you for range balls. The course was in fair to poor condition. The greens were hard and speed was inconsistent from green to green, we were told that they were running 11 on the stimpmeter. Their meter needs adjusting. The Pro Shop staff acted as if they were doing you a favor and the starter was a total jerk. This was after being at TPC of Valencia. I may play there again to see if it was an abberation. The grill and bar staff couldn't have been more helpful and curteous.

Peter Jacobsen really needs to study some of the better architects courses before he tries another.

Played Creekside and Canyon Crest nines. The Canyon Crest is definitely a bit easier, though it still offers a challenge with firmer greens (likely just due to their relative immaturity), perhaps a bit more wind exposure, and some interesting elevation changes, some of which are perhaps more severe than I would prefer. Still, this course is in my view the standard to which all other local public courses should aspire in terms of conditioning and maintenance. It's as near to perfect as I've seen since the Ojai Valley Inn of two or so years ago. Greens here are absolutely perfect. Only the bunkers didn't suit me well, being just a hair too soft and thick, but that's a small complaint.
